This isn't the first time someone has been discharged for fraternization. Just the first time it was a female in the Marine Corps. She was a corporal (E-4).

No but you are probably less likely to order your sexual partner to charge a machine gun nest because if you are sleeping together there is probably at least some personal connection there. And you are more likely to probably do something reckless if you see your "partner" get shot by said machine gun nest.

The BIG issue is that she's in a frickin infantry unit.

If she were some pogue in the Air Force it would be a little different maybe.

I have to agree with you on that one. I know the SJW's will say "You old bigots said the same thing when we let women in the service in the first place".

However, this is the combat arms world, no it's not the same. They are allowing women in the infantry......seriously, wtf did they think was going to happen....

What's going to happen is a lot more Jessica Lynch's.

The biggest problem is that she was told to stop the relationship, then she married him. That is pretty much telling your command to ****.

You know there was a female taken as a POW, not Lynch, who actually fought back and was wounded, yet she was never publicized. Guess why. She was a hefty black woman and not very attractive.

What happens if you're out in the bush for weeks, or months, in a combat zone, and one guy falls for a woman in his squad, but she likes someone else, and everybody is armed to teeth?

A competent Marine can make E-5 Sergeant in 5 years or less.

Marriage isn't the problem. It appears she pled guilty to fraternization before the marriage even though she's awaiting discharge.

Ok, so it was just the fact that she kept the relationship going after she was told to break it off. This is why fraternization is bad for the military. Feelings get in the way of following direct, lawful orders.

Disagreed, but I can see why you think that way. Sorry you think two missile-men in a silo making googly eyes at each other isn't a problem, but it is. Two B-2 crewmen, two sailors on a SSBN, etc.

The problem isn't that she's female but that she's human. Anyone here who doesn't think that one guy in a unit banging another guy's wife or GF is a problem doesn't understand anything about human behavior. Most people are professional enough to not do it, but there are always going to be one or two assclowns who think the rules don't apply to them.

Correct. It was wrong of her to do it in the first place, but she was given chance to knock it off. She didn't.

The problem is usually one of two things; a junior person and a subordinate. When I was in, one rank down or up wasn't a problem. However, if it was a subordinate, which this was, then it's a very big problem. If they want to keep the relationship, then one or the other needs to transfer out.

I said pogues. Paper pushers working in an office.

I didn't say that it was acceptable, regardless. I said that in an infantry unit it's especially unacceptable.

Human nature is also to **** in your pants. You have to be trained not to do it. That's why you have zero tolerance for this kind of thing, and she should have been kicked out along with whoever she was fraternizing with.

A huge **** show. Happened to us on my last deployment. Not a lot of females in my profession, especially not single ones. We had two in my company, and even though every guy in the company is married, didn't exactly stop one from trying to get with her. Him being married and trying to get with her pissed off a lot of the guys for the moral aspect of it, her allowing him to literally sexually assault her in front of everybody on a regular basis pissed a lot of people off because he's married and she was well aware of that, the other guy she was close to got pissed off that they were flirting all the time. A huge mess ensued. Higher ups got involved, they got a formal talking to to cut it out. Married guy gets pissed off that somebody told on him because he swore that they were just friends and he's just a friendly guy even though somebody walked in and saw him have her in a pretzel smacking her ass. Girl gets pissed off at her other close guy friend because she thought it was he who told on them out of jealousy but it actually wasn't it him it was a very devout religious member of our unit who doesn't take to kindly to his fellow Soldier openly trying to cheat on his wife while overseas directly in front of everybody.

To this day married guy hates religious guy for telling on him, religious guy hates both him and her for trying to have an open affair, girl doesn't hate her other guy friend but it ruined their relationship and they are no longer friends because she believes he had at least something to do with them getting in trouble. Other guy friend isn't her friend anymore because he actually had nothing to do with any of that and got pissed off that she thinks he did. Other guy hates married guy for ruining his relationship with girl. And all of the friends of each participating party don't exactly like each other due to all of the aforementioned.

And yup, we all had guns over there.

I'm not the one who says women shouldn't serve in the military. However I am a realist and I have seen first hand the problems that causes...My last deployment was comfortable, we were on a base with like 5000 people. Imagine the above scenario playing out with a displaced infantry platoon manning a combat outpost by themselves for a year.

Yep, Ive see a AF guy lose his stripe cause he was ordered to stay away from the generals daughter (who was of age) and refused while trying to keep it secret.

It's the human factor. This type of crap is always going to happen. If it's not sex, then it's drinking, drugs or something else that is stupid.

It is a problem but it's not on the same scale of a problem as men and women. Yes there are homosexuals in the military, but the vast majority of human beings are not homosexual, military included. If a gay guy shows up in a unit then while he might find a couple guys attractive, he probably won't find another guy who also thinks HE is attractive. Maybe one other or so, there aren't THAT many gay people walking around. Drop a female in a unit and you are going to have a lot of guys staring at her if she is even remotely attractive. As you said, humans, human males are biologically programmed for that.

Married or not, "the guys" are talking about the new cute chick in finance. "The guys" aren't talking about the new gay dude because they aren't gay.

So yeah the homosexual thing is a problem and I'm sure there are a couple gay guys somewhere making googly eyes at each other, but it's nowhere near on the same scale as the amount of guys staring at the females ass when she walks by at work. Not even close.

No law or regulation will stop a person from thinking what they want. It's their actions that count. No one can stop that male clerk from staring at your ass as you walk buy, but if he approaches you, that's a different matter.

dessert queens. LOL. I went deployed twice. Not a single girl in my unit was attractive, but the guys where all around them all the time. There were a couple of true beauties on base, but they knew it and were actually avoiding the attention that they would normally get in the real world.

Oh so true. They might be saying something about "stay out of the shower of that guy" though.

Well, there is a good reason for sailors to get their stereotype and have their names sewn on the backs of their pants. lol

    Thanks for the backpedal.

It's unacceptable anywhere in the military.

She is being kicked out and rightfully so. What does this have to do with your rant about no ****s in the ranks?
