Obama did not shut down the coal industry because of the cost.

False statement: "people reject the liberal attacks on coal is an understanding that the war on coal is based on the cap and trade concept, which was conceived as a means for income redistribution. "

False statement: "Trump has a plan whereas Obama's plan was for people in WV to become unemployed"

True emoji for dead coal: [IMG] It is dead, gang.

LOL, something like that! I shudder to think what life on earth would be like if we DID NOT drill for oil.

Probably the question of legality. Or just Trump talking about something he knows nothing about.

The mass of the universe is finite, therefore by definition so is the mass of the Earth even if it is acquiring mass through collisions.

The fact that the mass of the universe may very well be finite under current thinking does not mean that mass is equally distributed accross the universe in all dolor systems.

Obama did not close down the coal industry at all. The US massive reserves of Natural gas is doing that.

Look at your home. How many utilities are coal fired?

My water is heated in home with nat gas. My stove is nat gas and my municipal electrical plant is a hybrid Nat gas and coal.

Coal was dying long before Obama took office.

Yet you seem to ignore the statements of both Hillary and Obama regarding the coal industry.

    Why?

I'm sorry, I'm unfamiliar with this term, what is a dolor system ? Dolor means "a state of great sorrow or distress" but I've never seen it used in the context of Astronomy or Astrophysics - though I admit, my knowledge is out of date.

An unequally distributed finite quantity cannot be infinite in any one place. Mass is finite so the amount of fossil fuel is finite.

When CEOs of coal mining companies says "I suggested that he temper his expectations. Those are my exact words," Murray said. "He can’t bring them back." -- believe 'em. Trump pandered to coal miners by telling them everything was Obama's fault and he can fix it all with cutting regulations and they believed it....it wasn't true, but that is what politicians do -- and yes, Trump is a politician.

As another coal expert said "I don’t think the Trump presidency will have a material impact on bringing coal miners back to work"

The USA exports a whole lot of coal. The purchasers combust it. Combustion just cannot be beat for human comfort and ease of life.

You're referring to what you see coming out of the top. Burning coal produces ash. That ash has contaminants in it, including arsenic, boron, lead and mercury. It's stored in pits that often leak into local water supplies.

The plant in the video has a sordid history. Coal ash one reason is why power companies are moving away from coal.

And fire burned Rome, London, and many other great cities. Combustion is great, so long as people don't over-do it. But we're humans. We're going to over-do everything.

I don't know about other countries, but coal is not the favored fuel of steel making here.

    Are you sure about that?

    http://info.heylpatterson.com/blog/bid/207095/The-Roles-of-Coal-and-Coke-in-Steelmaking

I saw some articles from 2013 about moving to Natural Gas for this process but that was talking after a 10 year span (so 2023 at minimum).

Oh I know all about it. I wrote a paper on this event for an environmental ethics class. The thing that is good about it is that TVA has developed a new coal ash storage method.

Here is an article about it: https://www.tva.gov/Newsroom/News-Features/TVA-Is-Vibrating-Its-Ash
