And your use of "drive by" is the rhetoric of right wing AM talk radio. If you think that's news, than it's pretty clear why you spend so much time constructing parsed rationalizations or outright nonsense to defend your defective hero, and see it all blow up over and over again.

Trump made a fool of himself on Tuesday. Nancy Pelosi ended any doubt or speculation over who would be the House leader in one photo opp. Trump looked like and idiot, and would up bragging about taking responsibility for a government shutdown that no one wants for a wall that most Americans don't favor.

Going down with the ship is one thing. Drawing a crowd before you do it is something only Donald Trump would do (even when he's too stupid to understand what he's done until after it's too late).

Even the Fox crowd had trouble rationalizing this one.

Who cares if Pelosi is the House majority speaker or not? Has the Dems forgotten her last job as speaker? She lost the majority in a single mid-term, and her party was responsible for the ACA under her watch. It's to the Republicans long-term advantage, Trump or no Trump that she remain speaker. So thank you Ms.Pelosi for remaining the anchor which keeps the Democrats stuck.

And here's the thing: There is a constitutional obligation for a Wall. There is no constitutional obligation for the refugees to be here. If we don't want it to be a wall, it doesn't have to be a wall but national security is a constitutional right for US Citizens.

There is no constitutional right to be here, that was reaffirmed by the SCOTUS this year.

But we recall that POTUS Trump promised citizenship for the dreamers, in exchange for border funding. Had the Democrats accepted this proposal, we're not talking about this today. But obviously the Democrats refused this proposal. Perhaps under the belief that a Democratic House can make the Senate bow to its demands.

And maybe it can. But maybe it won't be enough to have a 2/3rd supermajority vote to overcome Trump's veto. Therefore, indeed the shutdown becomes a reality. And it'll be much harder to lift a shutdown under POTUS Trump than POTUS Obama.

So Pelosi/Schumer can hope for Mueller to bring down the hammer. Or they're going to have to suck it up, meet halfway with POTUS Trump(which will probably end up being the proposal they rejected) and if you call that leadership, ROFL. No wonder.

Bets are 2020 POTUS won't be better than Trump.

I have a very good idea how this will all be judged when the history is written.

It has been my experience over the years that I have predicted how these right wing obsessions will end up.

I predicted the outcome of Mr Bush's war in Iraq before he even started it.

I predicted the outcome of birtherism.

I knew that the tea party "movement" was actually an astroturf fraud run by DC lobbying shops and the GOP for the purpose of energizing the base for the 2010 mid terms, and that the money, and later, the movement would dry up. Which is what happened.

I knew who and what Donald Trump was in 1983. Nothing in his behavior, record or character has surprised me in the least. The only thing that is suprising is how many people fell (and continue to fall for ) his act.

Yes, they do remember when Pelosi was speaker.

She got the stimulus bill and the ACA passed.

That's a much bigger legislative record than Trump can claim, and certainly much more than McConnell or Ryan can claim. But since their agenda was to be in opposition, and not to move things forward...……..

A lot of people care who the Speaker of the House is. Just because we've had two ineffective GOP speakers who wound up being whip sawed by the right wing radicals in their own party, the rest of us don't have to lower our standards to the GOP level!

Pelosi owned Trump. Get used to it.

You live in a right wing media bubble if you really believe that Trump will be seen as a hero for shutting the government down over installing a symbol of American jingoism and intolerance like a border wall.

And, after Trump loses this battle (and he will), his poll numbers will start to sink to the same dead ender territory that George W Bush wound up occupying.
