You are absolutely correct. That is not socialism as long as it is completely voluntary. Socialism has a mandatory nature. Socialism is imposed by force of law. Socialism is the belief that everyone can be compelled by law to live at the expense of everyone else.

On the other hand; if it is not compulsory, if it is voluntary, it is not socialism. It could be Epicureanism or just a family, but is can't be socialism if it's voluntary.

Lots of bad things happen through no fault of our own. If you have insurance, then that is there to take some of the sting out of it. A "preexisting condition" is a house that has already burnt down. It's a car that is already damaged in an accident. It's jewelry that has already been stolen. And yes, it's being sick and needing to be hospitalized.

The thing is, you know that this is true. A preexisting condition is something that nobody wants to insure. You get insurance before you need it. Not after.

The Canadian healthcare system is very bad, it would be worse if Canadians were not able to flee across the border for care in the US.

"Canadians often think that the long wait times and bureaucratic roadblocks we experience are simply the price we pay to have a system that is fair and free… but the world tells us otherwise," journalist Michael Bolen wrote in The Huffington Post. He noted that in the Commonwealth Fund report, European countries with universal health care systems that use a hybrid of private and public models have shorter wait times and are ranked higher overall."

The American healthcare system for veterans and the poor is also very bad - hardly a surprise.

Those that can afford it will use private healthcare.

“It is incontrovertibly true that increasing numbers of us have come up against unfeeling bureaucracy in the health service. Presenting at my local accident and emergency department once with my palms covered in blisters, I was told to go home because "dermatology is not an emergency at weekends".
THE GUARDIAN, "We won't need a PC World NHS if more of us go private", By Melissa Kite, 9/29/13.

Actually, you have the right to buy and own firearms. They are not a right that the government provides them. Yet, the price does skyrocket when the government tries to control them.

Good response to another ideological self contradiction. They shoot themselves in the foot on a regular basis.

    preexisting condition
Insurance companies were dropping them at a greater and greater rate.
It's so popular to have coverage for preexisting conditions, that the R's can't even talk about getting rid of it.

BS. People have lost their insurance due to becoming high risk. Then when they have to find new insurance because their previous insurance dropped them, they can't get it, because they now have a preexisting condition.

There’s a defined problem that needs to fixed. Obama comes up with a plan allowing people to break there arm and then buy insurance. That’s a pathetic and idiotic solution.

The current system, where access to health care on demand is not guaranteed.
Since Health Care is very expensive, people can't get treatment on time.

    Don't you pay taxes?
Why health care cannot be paid from taxes?

It is only terrible for those who makes money off the people's suffering.
Any normal (not brain damaged) person want to have a health care coverage.

Whatever system you prefer, is fine. As long as everyone have access to health care on demand.
The current system is unacceptable, it is brutal, inhumane and dangerous for the society.

That’s absurd. The US system is the best in the world despite the negative effects of ObamaCare

Yes, under ACA a person cannot be denied a coverage.
What are the negative effects of Obamacare?
    https://www.hhs.gov/healthcare/about-the-aca/pre-existing-conditions/index.html
Obamacare is at least something, it is much better then before when could not even get insurance due to pre-existing conditions.

Health care in U.S is not the best in the world,
there is no single independent article about the best in the world health care in U.S
There are plenty of articles that inform us how bad Health Care in US is.

    Name one.

More doctors retiring early, fewer doctors accepting Medicaid & Medicare patients, doubling of the gap between private and government rates, increased private insurance premiums, increased deductibles for bronze and silver ObamaCare policies, forcing people to buy Cadillac mandated coverages at premiums they can’t afford, ....

Do you pay the highest rates or are you happy to cheep out and let your neighbors subsidize you?
