A wall is a wall. Walls work. Doesn't have to be 40 ft thick

I think it will drastically cut down on immigration. It did in Berlin!

Democrats say they are for border security. Exactly what is their idea of border security?

Ask Israel and Nancy Pelosi if walls work. Israel completely eliminated illegal immigration across their southern border and Nancy hasn't had an intruder in decades.

Most Americans know that there is a lot of drugs brought here through shipping ports from China, Central and South America. Destroying those Countries militarily won't even help. As long as there is a market for drugs, there will be drugs coming here.

The wall isn't really about that. It's more about keep out folks who just think they can come here and live, if they want. At issue is really the ability of the U.S. to handle the influx of folks, curb the additional gangs, child prostitution, and abuse of laws. If these folks are so good for us, why are there still so many jobs out there that they can't fill?

Also, if they continue to come here freely and without borders, how would the system pay for their education? Taxes are collected for basic education. Can we handle the amount of new children coming to learn in our public schools? Would new and larger schools need built? Who would pay for that? If their jobs are low paying that no citizen wants and we need them here, how much in school taxes are they contributing to their district? Won't the cost of food stams necessarily go up? Who will pay for those? Taxes will go up exponentially to cover all of this. They must. Some will likely contribute a greater amount in taxes, once they are educated. I'm not naïve enough to believe immigrants aren't intelligent and capable. It depends on what they want, can do, when they get here.

I'd really like to read someone's comments who has this all figured out.

Now, the United States is a land of laws. We have laws on pretty much everything. It really is not a free country. Our liberties are curtailed by an increasing number of regulations and laws created every year to adhere to some small minority of the population. We are no longer free.

If we, as U.S. citizens, must deal with and live under the oppressive thumb of the Federal government, why doesn't everyone have to do similarly? Do some deserve more freedom than others? Who decides that, imperfect humanity? What gives them that right?

As you can see, I have lots of questions, confusiong and very few answers. I do not dislike immigrants. I just think they have no right to come here freely, in this day and age. Once, sure, we needed folks here to help rape the land and it's resources. I do believe those days have been gone for close to a century.

I don't want to stop folks from achieving their dreams. I want their home nations to create better societies for them to live in. It's a huge problem.

Would we do more for these immigrants, if we went in, conquered their nations and set up a new society similar to the one they love so much, the United States? I believe it may not be as immoral as I first imagine. I'm not sure, though.

Wouldn't these immigrants rather be living in their homeland and being trade partners with the U.S., rivaling our other trade partners and garnering great respect in the world?

Just some thoughts here. Some things I've been thinking for some time. Not even sure what to think about them.

Yeah, so they did not try to cross. There is a wall and a sign, the sign says you may be shot if you climb or tunnel under the wall- Please don't do so. If you build a wall and don't patrol it or enforce it yeah it won't stop anybody.
You suggest that the plan is to build a wall to force illegals to buy a 40 foot extension ladder?

That's why we need peer-reviewed studies. We don't have that.

But there won't be anything other than a few unconnected, vulnerable pieces of an imaginary 'wall' on the border by the time Trump leaves.

Never seen a 40 ft $5 ladder. They sell those out in the Mexican desert.

If you need a peer reviewed study to know if a wall works, then common sense is your enemy.

When did Democrats approve more officers on the border? What equipment are they funding?
