    Not a bad idea, since the State of the Union is: - Pretty Shitty at the moment... I'm sure Trump doesn't want to lie about that (Ha Ha)

    I'm also sure he won't go for it, but it's not the worst idea I've heard this week. The full letter from Nancy is in the URL.

    And MAJOR LOL at the thought of Trump WRITING OUT the SOTU....

    Oh boy did she step in it. First he should tell her to disinvite him. Then either McConnell can send an invitation for him to speak to the Senate and dare the Democrats to not show up. Else he announces he will deliver it from the Oval Office and send her a copy.

    Dumb dumb dumb when the Democrats are refusing to negotiate at all.

    And SOTU addresses are always written out and archived.

    LOL at Pelosi pretending this is because of security concerns, and LOL at her thinking she has any control over Trump, and LOL at her afraid to give Trump a stage for another SOTU.

    None of that is normal protocol, but there is nothing normal anymore... If Mitch wants to invite him to speak to the Senate, there will be at least 53 people in the hall (well, 106... everybody has a plus 1)

    I'm sure the address as DELIVERED is archived.

    Seems like a logical request to me...

    Or they asked this, knowing how Trump would take it, hoping he would give it, and see if how a SOTU address would go over in a shutdown.

    You seem to forget that the dems ran on "no wall" in these midterms and they won a lot of races on that. To say they aren't negotiating at all is disingenuous. The POTUS isn't negotiating, he's saying "give me everything I want or I'll keep the government closed"

    The dems are keeping their promise to those who voted for them.

    They are not refusing to negotiate at all. They are refusing to negotiate while the government is held hostage.

    When Trump invited those 9 democrats to the white house yesterday, how many of those 9 were authorized to negotiate on behalf of the Democratic caucus?

    Of course it is not silencing Trump. Trump can deliver the remarks by hand, just like what happened for 100+ years in the United States or deliver the speech after the government is reopened.

    Or, as is much more likely, Trump and his Trumpettes will freak out over the request and he will make a bigger display of giving the speech while the government is shutdown.

    Trump's oval office speech on immigration resulted in trump's approval rating dropping and the number of Americans who blame trump for the shutdown higher. Meanwhile support for the wall stayed exactly the same.

    Yea, we are terrified.

    See, the President does not need to give the SOTU speech at the Capitol - he can do it from the oval office, a golf course -- or the moon, for that matter.

    Nancy realizes she is losing the support of the American people on this shutdown. She does not want to give the President air time, and her desperation is showing. It’s quite funny she is worried about security at the Capitol, but not about at the border. Trump’s gonna own her at the SOTU
