For further education on this and why Democrats are to blame for their constituents becoming poorer have a good read: https://www.sfchronicle.com/opinion...cies-have-made-California-poorer-12253618.php

Now the question is are you going to reject policies that created this mess or are you just going to go along with it because that's what they told you?

They don't care. It's almost like they're trying to push people out of California.

And if any of their own suffer, they just lay the blame on the rich. A standard ploy that always seems to work.

Thank you for that opinion article. Unfortunately, it did not enlighten us as to which policies caused the typhus outbreak. Furthermore, it does not help to explain the same kind of outbreaks in affluent and Republican-controlled parts of the nation.

You did say the article would educate me as to why Democrats are to blame for people becoming poorer, and it did offer an opinion about that, but did not relate to my comments, and in fact, never mentioned the typhus outbreak.

So, until I see something other than how the lack of housing and high energy costs result in high poverty in California, I'm going to assume that there must be other, more relevant factors to explain how this happened.

With an open southern border, we're going to see a lot things that we thought were eradicated.

With 12-14% of all the people in the country concentrated in the habitable portion of California they should try to get some of them to move out.Way too many in the livable parts of the state.Spread the wealth.

California spreads the wealth all the time by tax money going to poor ass red states. Cali pays welfare for fat white people in Alabama LMAO.

I was living in Los Angeles in the 70's since I've lived here nearly my entire life. After work we could drive to Santa Monica in 30 minutes to swim and BBQ on the beach. Now it takes more than an hour. LA's light rail system can get you to the pier in less than an hour and one doesn't need to park. Have a nice dinner on promenade\ drink wine and not worry about driving. So it is not too bad with a million more people.

I grew up here as well and you forgot to mention all the homeless you have to pass on your way to a nice dinner.

Oh? Then why do we have so many vagrants, beggars and other homeless bums all over Colorado from Denver down through Colorado Springs, and on through Pueblo? It gets really COLD up here at a mile or more above sea level, right in the shadow of the Rocky Mountains, but the homeless are thick as fleas all over this area we call "The Front Range".

They 'camp' illegally in the city parks, they crap, piss, and puke in the creeks and waterways, and right on the streets, too. Nighttime temperatures have frequently been below 20-degrees Fahrenheit for weeks, and often near ZERO! And it doesn't get much warmer in the day than the 30's or 40's. BUT, they can pour in here, fill the public libraries and other public areas with their filth, their rotten behavior, their begging, and all their filth, trash, and crap -- and -- best of all -- because it's legal to smoke weed in Colorado, they don't even have to be aware of just what disgusting nuisances they are, because they're often either drunk or stoned out of their minds... or both.

Yes there are homeless folks begging and Venice beach can get roudy at night. An evening swim is not crowded plus the ocean temp is at its warmest. There are several surfers on PF. You try to avoid crowds. Overnight sleeping is against the law.
There are homeless camps under many freeway over passes. It has been close to freezing at night and why sleeping under piers is the warmest spot.

Now that weed is totally legal in Kalifornia, I wish that all our homeless beggars and bums in Colorado would head WESTWARD, as soon as possible!

No, more likely more of the ones from California will keep heading to Colorado as the state becomes increasingly less affordable.

Probably because no one wants to step on a hypodermic needle.

(Yes, there are a lot of those in the sand there)

Colorado legalized marijuana before California. This is where it is grown. Governor is angry that 80% of consumption isn't being taxed

The fear\ excitement of swimming at night is the thought of a shark attack in the dark especially if skinny dipping. But how often does that happen?

California has several abandoned military bases such as near Sacramento and Salinas. Each could readily accommodate several thousand homeless people. All it takes is the will and the wisdom to fix up these facilities.

You are right, Carlos. Weed-smoking-for-amusement became legal here in Colorado before anywhere else in the U. S.

But my point was that in Southern California especially, the climate is much warmer and pleasant -- which is why Cali has attracted so many swarms of beggars and bums, in addition to the fact that weed-for-fun is now legal there, and Cali is infamous throughout the nation as the 'welfare-handout' Capital of the United States, thanks to liberal Democrats who parlay welfare for votes.

As far as I'm concerned, California is the PERFECT place for them on a PERMANENT basis... even though it is turning my once-beloved San Diego into a city-wide 'Petri Dish' for filth, diseases, and corruption of every imaginable kind.
