Why do you quote $23,000 - what's the significance of it please?

That's the equivalent of how much the Norwegian man was ordered by the court to pay to the woman whom he caused to suffer a miscarriage.

If someone 'accidentally' killed the woman, that person would be prosecuted for manslaughter wouldn't he? I'm not understanding where you're coming from.

My point was I was asking why the woman should be compensated with so much money. Some pro-choicers would say that's for the loss of her fetus. I was trying to show how ridiculous that notion is.

Denying a woman her choice is a crime. Justifying it makes it no less of a crime.

So you think her fetus was worthless?

You're going to propose a law that says if you went to a fertility clinic then you are precluded from having an abortion?

When you're reduced to calling on the small failure rate of contraceptives, and rape, to support your (already failed) argument, it's time to give up. We all know that the majority of abortions are the result of unprotected consensual sex.

So you ARE saying that women are too stupid to know that unprotected sex makes babies?

Responsibility being the flip side of autonomy.

    'reasons' ?

Here's where we run into the problem of determining 'harm'. I don't believe that can include emotional harm, because it's far too subjective and far too easy to fake. Legally, it should be limited to physical harm which is detectable and quantifiable.

NO! I did NOT say that.

I was responding to your comment that pregnant women consented to being pregnant.

And, I pointed out that a significant number do NOT want to be pregnant - including those who went out of their way to NOT be pregnant.

    That's not acceptable.

Being subjective does not mean it isn't significant.

If they didn't want to be pregnant, they would not have engaged in unprotected sex, obviously. Unless you think they're halfwits.

Why are you so incredibly resistant to female autonomy and responsibility?

I'm afraid it is. You can not have full 'mastery' of a thing without also have full responsibility for it.

No, you're trying to twist out of the inconvenient truth. YOU guys are the ones saying that women don't know how to avoid pregnancy.

Who is denigrating women, in this scenario? Hint: it's not me.

Yes, women have full responsibility with their pregnancies....

and some think it's responsible to have an abortion...

YOU do not get to decide for the world what "responsibility" entails....

We're not determining individual value of 'emotional harm'. Society cannot possibly afford the time and resources to make such highly specialised appraisals of every single case, and even then have nowhere near certainty. Therefore we must limit 'harm' to that which cannot be faked, and can be easily and cheaply determined (via medical certification). That means physical harm only.

Then SHOW THE PROOF that I said women don't know how to avoid pregnancy.

You can't because I never said that.

You saying I said something I didn't DOESN'T MAKE IT TRUE.
