Oh calm down chicken little. There are countries with even greater political divides that are somehow able to hold it together.
You didn't read his post. He didn't ask about racism. He asked what impediment to success cannot be overcome by a minority. I don't particularly like the question either but your answer responds to a different question.
Well they came home to the Democrats. David Duke endorsed Tulsi Gabbard. But really my point was they KKK or white supremacists are practically nonexistent. How many are left? Practically nothing thanks to Republicans who destroyed the KKK.
You just admitted to being stumped by a stupid question. I notice you have to go back decades to make your point. Today (Not decades ago), what can a person of color NOT achieve due to racism?
One thing I've learned around here is that there are two groups on the forum not worth debating with - racists and conspiracy theory nuts. Both are oblivious to facts and as you pointed out too ignorant to engage.
Oh, were you debating? I do admire you admitting you have to ignore the question. Its at least an honest dodge.
I am neither a racist nor a conspiracy theorist. Please name one thing a person of color cannot achieve today due to racism.
Disingenuous ignorance much = pretending not to understand something that is as obvious as "water as wet" ?
Not stumped at all. Just stating the obvious. "Equal Justice Under the Law" There are far more blacks in jail for Pot offences than Whites - despite having similar usage rates. The statistical disparity is one example of systemic inequality.
I don't think anyone should be in prison for any drug and strongly oppose the level of overreach by our justice system. Progress is being made, but we have a long way to go. The color of ones skin should never be a determinate. While many argue that racism is going strong, I am arguing that it is fading over time and a lot of progress is being made. That is not an answer to my question, but it at least establishes common ground.
I agree .. and agree that progress has been made. I attribute much of the systemic racism to bad law. - much of which stemmed from the war on drugs. It is normal that bad law will impact the "Lower Classes" more than the higher class - and Blacks happen to make up a higher proportion of the lower class. An interesting facet of the Drug War - if you watch any documentaries on this evil and illegitimate policy - is that those who implemented the policy did so not because they cared about drugs so much.. they were looking for a reason to increase Gov't/Police power and go after essential liberty in general. That "bad Law" is the problem is something that almost never comes up. As per the founding principles - Gov't is to have no legitimate authority to mess with essential liberty - of its own volition. Gov't is then not supposed to have the power to make any law that messes with individual liberty - without "consent of the governed". The bar for this consent is "overwhelming majority" - at least 2/3rd .. not 50+1 or "Simple Majority Mandate" that some political clown got elected gives them some mandate. How then did the powers at be get around these safeguards ? Safeguards put in place by the founders to protect us from "Tyranny/Totalitarianism"
The trick would be getting to oppose government power and overreach even when they agree with what they are doing. On racism, we are lucky to live in a time where it does not prevent anyone from achieving their dreams. I think we do more harm convincing them they are victims.
If we would focus on respect for essential liberty for everyone - rather than some specific group - these issues would work themselves out. The establishment (both red and blue) hates essential liberty - the effects of this hate are going to be felt more by the traditionally disinfranchized groups. Achieving dreams it is being limited/decreased for everyone - traditionally disinfranchized groups are going to feel the brunt of this more than the upper class. That is just how things work .. similar to the case of bad law. Ramping up the racism rhetoric is a useful tool for division. This keeps people voting either red or blue which maintains the status quo. If people are focusing on the race war - it diverts their attention away from the real war that is being waged which is class warfare. A war against the middle class.
Until they are unable to find a single person anywhere in the US to paint a sob story for, it wont matter, they will all be the same
Not sure of you saw this but some Blue Politician - forget which one - had made the statement "All Lives Matter" - in the past. This comment was dug up and used against him by Blue political opponents as offensive to the "Black lives Matter" movement. (this was on Tucker last night). This sent the Blue Politician into a tizzy of apology and self deprecation. This goes to the heart of what I was trying to get at in my previous post. When someone is demonized for speaking the Truth .. and in fact a higher truth. A truth that goes to the heart of the problem. How are "Black Lives" not included in the phrase "All Lives" - and do All lives no matter - and do they all not matter equally ? The other side will argue that Blacks are disproportionately targeted - and the other side would be right ! This does not change the fact that the root cause of the problem is "Bad Law". Bad Law affects all of us. It puts police in confrontation with civilians more often than they should be. This bad law - as we know - will disproportionately affect traditionally disadvantaged groups more than advantaged ones. In saying "All lives Matter" the politician was pointing out the root case of the problem - that respect for the liberty of everyone has been decreased. Obviously if respect for essential liberty increased for everyone - this would help to reduce the abuse of power with respect to traditionally disadvantage groups. We see the same thing in the "Me Too" diatribe. That all women should be believed = women never lie and that men are always guilty when accused of any form of sexual misconduct if accused by a woman. On this basis we are supposed to just throw out the rule book - ignoring the Rule of law principles "equal justice" "innocent until proven guilty". The reality of course is that people lie - and women are people. Power corrupts and more power corrupts more - and women are not immune to this historical imperative.
Nothing Mattis anymore Trump is expertly exposing all the corruption that is rampant in our government Nobody does it better Carly Simon
