I select based upon the position the candidate has, not race nor gender, since issues are the most important thing to responsible voters, and the position of the candidate holds on those issues.

But this means that I am leaning towards a female, with some skin tone, but not because of either of those things. Indeed those things have no relevance at all, only positions on issues. It is gabbard.

I think your manner of choosing is irresponsible and you are a modern democrat, and superficial.

If democrats don't nominate a transgender person the party is nothing but hypocritical transphobic bigots.

So you are only worried about identity, not policy?

Well, thank you for your opinion. I suspect the same commentary could be said for half of all American voters. But, we've had 45 Presidents in the U.S. over the last 230+ years, and NONE of those have been women. If someone believes in gender equality, that's a disgraceful record. Women have been a willing participant & partner in everything any society has done through recorded history, but in most cases without the recognition granted them that they deserved. Women came to America along with the earliest settlers. Women were on the wagon trains that settled our West. Women have shared all the dangers & challenges men encountered in every year of human existence, and they deserve equal recognition & equal consideration for positions of leadership. I have NO APOLOGY to offer for feeling it's time for that recognition or for doing my part to make it happen.

Of course not. I am in strong agreement with what I've heard so far from Marianne Williamson, Kamala Harris & Elizabeth Warren. I'm comfortable with most of what I've heard from K. Gillibrand & A. Klobuchar, but less so. I am comfortable with the policies of most of the male candidates too, but prefer supporting a woman in the primaries for personal reasons. One thing I am strongly convinced of: ANY DEMOCRAT is infinitely better than Trump, and SHE or HE will get my vote in the election.

I see. So you want to see the green new deal enacted and watch the economy collapse also?

I'd say a qualified president is long overdue. I don't care where he/she/other lands on the gender continuum.

    What difference does it make?
Having a vagina just means you have a vagina, remember?

The Green New Deal (GND) is a goal; a wishlist; NOT a detailed, hard-core, itemized work list for accomplishing the reversal of global warming. It's a dream list; a generalized guideline. It simply points to areas we need to look into in more detail & with the intent of making progress toward the ultimate goal of weening ourselves off of fossil fuels. Of course, the GND addresses other glaring issues that need our attention, but have been ignored for far too long. But again, the GND is NOT a rigid law. It's a general guideline that is designed to be discussed & changed by new, innovative ideas.

In terms of cost, it will be FAR MORE EXPENSIVE to ignore global warming than confronting it.

I agree that qualifications are top priority concern. But right now we're living with a President with absolutely NO QUALIFICATIONS whatsoever. Anybody with some political experience would potentially be better. Anyway, when I say I prefer supporting a woman, I mean one who is qualified. Certainly K. Harris & E. Warren are.

Thus making Donald Trump no different from Barack Obama, who was also not qualified to be president of the united states.

For me, it's a concern about equal rights & opening opportunity. Women have a different attitude toward many aspects of life, and in many cases a natural ability to deal with others with less friction. I think a woman's leadership would be good for America & for America's allies. I also think it's long past time to allow women to assume those leadership positions denied them up till now.

And A. Klobuchar, of course. I'm really looking forward to the Democratic primaries. For the first time in my life

Barack Obama was a professor of Constitutional Law at Harvard U, which makes him an expert on the Constitution & its legalese. Obama is qualified to be a Supreme Court Justice due to his Constitutional law knowledge. Very few Presidents in history have had the Constitutional knowledge Obama brought to the Oval Office. But Obama had something new to deal with that no other President ever did--Racism.

Yes, A. Klobuchar & T. Gabbard are both qualified, but I feel somewhat less comfortable with them. Regardless, I will support ANY DEMOCRAT who wins the nomination.

Of course there's a difference. And we should be taking advantage of that.

Odd isn't it, how those who say gender equality is important to them eliminate the entire male gender as their presidential candidate.

I don't know what kind of change you are expecting from a female president. In the last five years two world leaders, two presidents, have been impeached and removed from office for corruption. One of them is in prison. Both were women. I'm talking about Brazil and South Korea. This is a lesson for those who think that the world would be a better place if women were running it.

Not always. Some women think & act exactly like men, but generally speaking, women are more responsive to working things out without conflict than men are, and that would be helpful in today's world--especially after Trump. I also think women are more dedicated to making & maintaining peace than men in general. They are also more responsive to civil rights, human rights & social programs to help those less fortunate or those with children. I think we could use all these assets right now in America.

It may have contributed to his election, but it CERTAINLY got him ostracized & obstructed by all Republicans in Congress, making it impossible for him to get bills passed.
