Why is the GOP base shrinking?

The Republican Base is shrinking because of Trump. Trump is everything bad about conservatism with literally NO part of the good I can perceive. Conservatism used to be represented by people like George F. Will and William Buckley. I never agreed with them either but I didn't see them as evil authoritarians out end America as I had always known it.

 

The whites from the extremist far right fringe do not, can not, and will not ever speak for all whites.

 

Not enough. Not nearly enough.

 

So why belong to a party? You don't need to do that to vote for whomever you choose.

 

The bad old Democratic way with race and minorities became steadily and steadfastly the bad old Republican way after 1968.

I assume other states have closed primaries, too. I registered with the Green party many years ago but it hasn't expanded very much and I don't want to waste my vote on ideology. I once voted for Reagan and have no issues with Republicans like governor Kasich.

 

I would vote for Kasich in a heartbeat.

Remember the state funerals of John McCain, Barbara Bush, George H Bush? There were probably as many Democrats mourning them as Republicans. In fact, it is mostly Trumped Republicans who callously dismiss these Americans.

Latino or Hispanic refers to Spanish culture encompassing any race. I'm part Rican and have distant relatives who have Black and Amerindian blood. Interracial marriage is quite common. I have blue eyes since my mother's ancestry is Finnish.

 

I watched Meghan McCain weep with Joe Biden yesterday on TV; their families are very close. Americans want the old Republican party back that Trump destroyed.

I think the Democrats should be the ones who are worried as their base moves father left the more they shrink.
