The ACA had problems, which were planned to fix within a couple of years. But Republicans took control of Congress & killed any chance of fixing it. Personally, I feel health care SHOULD be a right in America, & I support expanding Medicare to cover everyone--or at least offer it as a competitive public option for those who want it.
You & I are both "controlled" by the wealthy elites here in America. The wealthy own & control the businesses. They own & control the majority of politicians. They have laws passed that benefit themselves at the worker's expense. They know money talks, & they have the money. So, they have the control. You're complaining about socialists telling you what to do, but you're oblivious to the truth around you now. How sad.
What kind of ethics violations? Trump violates my ethics every day. I'm feeling more & more that anyone who supports him shares his lack of ethics entirely.
Are you talking about American citizens who are convicted of crimes and go to jail and have their children torn from them? We should stop sending them to prison or send the children there with them?
Fine. Obama was a teacher of Constitutional Law, & not a scholar. But, how many scholars become President of the U.S.?
These people are refugees, not immigrants. America has always tried to help refugees. They are NOT criminals, & should not be incarcerated as such. They should be legally processed, like refugees always have been.
They are in violation of the law, the ones subject to the raids this weekend guilty and ordered deported. Criminals. Your point is the government separating children from parents, should we give parents immunity for the law? A person merely arrested and held without bail will have their children torn from them, should we stop jailing people without bail if they have children or if they can't make bail?
Actually, it's not the highest degree offered in the field of law. There are two higher degrees: Master of Laws : LLM and Doctor of Juridical Science (SJD) https://onlinelaw.pepperdine.edu/student-experience/types-of-law-degrees/ Yes, he had a good education, but he has no business being on the Supreme Court due to his lack of experience practicing law and not being a judge. Nobody that has never been a judge before should be on the Supreme Court in this day and age.
IMHO, being President of the U.S. is a disqualifier for being a Supreme Court Justice. The bias towards the government would be incredible. In addition, they couldn't rule on any law that they signed as President.
He isn’t hiding them. They are protected by the exact same privacy laws that prevent everyone from seeing yours.
Still wrong. From 1924 til 1965 the USA let very few people immigrate. Mostly western Europeans, Cannucks, and a few others. People that most likely would quality as refugees especially from commie countries were specifically prohibited.
I would go as far to say that predominately Federal Appeals Court judges only should be considered with few exceptions. We need judges that understand the law as written / intent with a trail of legal opinions that are upheld by the SCOTUS. Off the top of my head, I think Gorsuch only had two authored decisions overturned. Merrick Garland - that never got a hearing - has had just one overturned on a SCOTUS decision. Kavanaugh also has a stellar record. Robert Bork NEVER had an authored opinion overturned thru a long distinguished career.
Before Trump, crossing our border illegally wasn't regarded as a crime, just a misdemeanor. Trump is using immigrants as a scapegoat like Hitler used the Jews, blaming them for taking jobs away from Americans. But that's not true. Immigrants generally take jobs most Americans don't want, or won't take themselves. This whole immigration issue is arbitrary & contrived by Trump for political gain. I'm just surprised by the number of Americans falling for this con man's BS.
Howard Taft, 27th U.S. President, from 1909-1913, became Chief Justice of the Supreme Court in 1921, serving with distinction until his death in 1930. Today, we have a President who probably has never read the Constitution, & certainly knows nothing whatsoever about it, but is nominating justices to the SCOTUS, who will be making life changing decisions that will affect this nation for decades or generations to come. That's incompetence.
It is ILLEGAL and people caught were taken into custody and if children were involved separated until custody could be proven and the parent was out of detention. Here is the solution, DON'T COME apply the right way and then show yourself at a port of entry. And if you are from South or Central America or any other country other than Mexico which borders us along our southern border you stay in Mexico if you are seeking asylum. Then you can apply for legal entry into the United States and get in line. How about some solutions instead of just anti-Trump rants. Trump does not oppose LEGAL immigration stop with that canard.
According to FactCheck.org, Obama has refused to release his college transcripts based on the Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act of 1974. Obama isn't some kind of odd exception here. No other President has released their classroom grades or educational records either, including Donald Trump. Why is Obama an issue, if he's following the precedent of his own predecessors, and Trump is doing the same?
Your post, along with mine & dozens of others from various members of this forum, demonstrate how confusing & dysfunctional our immigration system has become over time, & how desperately it needs repair. Congress needs to do their job & quit leaving it for the Executive Dept & the President to cope with unsuccessfully.
If Trump isn't opposed to "legal" immigration, then why has he closed all access to the asylum offices, refused to allow many of these current refugees to apply, and is now threatening to close the entire asylum system down altogether? I agree with Pelosi. He's a racist trying to "Make America WHITE Again." I agree with your statement that we need to find solutions. What's happening now at the border isn't it. Congress is in charge of passing laws, & it's responsible for arriving at that solution--not the President. I say, elect Congress members who are willing to take on that challenge & resolve it.
Why not? He has practiced law and written the damn things as well as taught constitutional law. How does this day and age prove different from any other and why do you see a variety of legal experience on the court as a deficit rather than an advantage. Not a single justice named below sat on a bench. They were legislators, professors, cabinent officials, and attorneys in private practice. . John Rutledge Governor of South Carolina 1789-1791, 1795 Some SCOTUS appointees did not even attend or graduate from a law school. I think its a great idea to broaden the expertise outside of judges and you clearly need to see what constitutes 'practice' in the field of law for these purposes, in far broader terms. It does not have to be a courtroom or law office devoted to litigation, or a DA office. I personally think both a legislator's viewpoint and an executive either from a mayors perspective or a governors offer invaluable insight. So would a tax attorney, a prosecutor, someone engaged in legal research, or someone who taught the subject.
Don't get me wrong. I don't think Trump should be a judge or anything in the government. I voted against him twice. Obama shouldn't be a SCOTUS judge either. Taft had been a judge before he became President (1892-1900).
