A Democratic lawmaker says he will force a vote on articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump by next week, a dramatic step that could force the Democrat-led House to consider the measure for the first time, even over the objection of Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

“The President of the United States is a racist, a bigot, a misogynist, as well as an invidious prevaricator. To say that Donald John Trump is unfit for the Office of the President of the United States is an understatement,"

Well, that could be interesting, if Nancy is still against it.... Doesn't sound like she can stop it from a vote however.

I happen to like this strategy....While the Mueller report obviously details impeachable offenses, perhaps bypassing a full investigation and going straight to a vote on his simple unfitness for office (Invidious Prevaricator??? Damn Al.... that cuts below the belt) would speed things up?

We might finally see those on the fence (on the D side) make their call. But I'd love to see Trump impeached listing his worst (???) 5 or 10 actions or statements that prove his unfitness, then watch the Senate Republicans defend him in public (via vote or otherwise).

Good strategy here?? I certainly don't see any downside.... there wasn't the previous 2 times Green went here.....

Ah, the dem clown show rolls on. For the left, unproven innuendo is enough to impeach a president.

If an impeachment vote is forced and passed the GOP Senate will acquit him. All that does is feed into his narrative that he is the target of a witch hunt.

Trump's words and actions can impeach Trump.... nothing unproven about it.... he makes it ridiculously easy to find examples... he's proud of them...

Nope... if they attempt to impeach based on the impeachable offenses listed in the Mueller report, he can continue to spew that crap, wrong though it is.... if they attempt to impeach him on his own words and actions, there's no hunt going on.... it's there for all to see (those that are willing to see)...

Republicans impeached a guy with a 70% approval rating and in the next election gained seats in the house and won the next presidential election. Trumps closer to half of the support Clinton has.

The Speaker of the House controls the agenda. The motion to begin impeachment proceedings would be scheduled through Pelosi and she will not set up hearing time to consider the motion. Al Green can make a motion for impeachment when the entire House is in session but Pelosi can ask for a motion from any other House member to table the impeachment motion which every Republican and all sensible Democrats would support. The motion for impeachment would then die a whithering death.

Of course, the Democrats would be severely punished at the polls for attempting what would be sold as a soft coup to the public. The Republicans were punished for attempting to impeach Clinton and there is absolutely no reason to think the same thing won't happen in 2020 to the Democrats.

If you are a Trump supporter you are certainly hoping that the House would try to impeach. It may give Trump a big enough majority in both Houses to be able to push through anything he wants to without any opposition or pushback.

Read post #8 and remember back...

    SNIP
A member of the House at any time can file articles of impeachment against the president as a privileged resolution, which triggers a two-day time clock in which the House has to consider the matter.

Well....... hate to disagree with a fellow snowflake, but not totally true.... Hit my Wiki on the 2000 Election

President - Dumb old Bush Jr won by a coin flip
Senate - R's lost 4 seats to make it an even 50/50 (still in R hands with the VP)
House - R's lost 2 seats but still retained a majority.

So, all in all, there was essentially ZERO political punishment in 2000 for the Clinton impeachment.

Absolutely. The Speaker of the House resigned after the impeachment, the leading advocates of impeachent were mostly out of office five years later, and the Democrats gained five House seats when the prevailing predictions were that the Republicans would have gained 30 seats without impeachment.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impeachment_of_Bill_Clinton

With that in mind, Pelosi is wise to quash all impeachment talk in procedural entanglements. Impeachment will not make it out of committee, so why take the political hit when nothing will be accomplished?

Because there will be no political hit... It won't change a single vote in this country, and will finally energize the Democratic base for once.

I posted the full results of the 2000 election in post #19 and the R's had control of all 3 branches after that election...

That will put the final nail in the Democrat coffin. Not only will they lose the presidency, they will also lose the House! Just watched the 4 Horsemen of the Apocalyse. They came off as haters to the max. Democrats are committing political suicide. For people who tout their brilliance, they prove how dumb they really are. Not that I feel bad....
