How does this affect our HIPPA laws and the right to privacy?

If this country has a mental illness problem, it makes sense to police all the guns that are out there. You don't want to make it easy for mentally ill people to own a gun, right?

All gun control laws, including gun bans, can be easily evaded by any criminal who wants a gun.

All gun control laws are aimed only at disarming the general public who are inclined to comply with them.

It will always be easy for criminals to obtain and use a gun regardless of any legal restrictions.

This is yet another political IQ test for Donald Trump, and there is little evidence that he has been dumbed down enough by RP advisors to push for gun control.

He will probably reject any such proposals, and let the DP remain the 'Party of Gun Control and Gun Bans and Gun Free Zones'.
A few hapless RINOs may, as usual, follow the DP lead and lose their seats in Congress.

The Trump campaign should focus on denouncing laws that inhibit Americans from carrying concealed handguns. That is where the votes are.

Or it may make the problem worse. "Treatment" means putting them on meds, which may have the opposite effect.

BTW, the gas tax in CA is on top of an existing gas tax with new registration fees. Would you like to guess the condition of CA roads?

If they are too crazy to own a gun, they should be locked up. Leave law abiding citizens out of this.

Imagine how much worse they would be without the money from the tax.

Is it better for the country? Does it help keep guns out of the hands of the mentally ill and psychopaths?

Just wanted to salute you for going with GreenShirtGuy as your new avatar.... I debated it for a few minutes, but decided just to change my signature to the other guy in the hearing...

That hearing was what America needed after another week of shootings and Trump...

All laws can be evaded by criminals. Advanced societies still have laws to reduce crime.

Of course having a very large brain, he wants intelligent background checks, and of course, waiting periods are no longer necessary under such a smart system.

Democrats are never going to allow sign into law the most intelligent background check system ever seen, so he is quite safe making this proposal and his very intelligent base is well aware of that.

Given that all these white mass murderers appear to heavy dope smokers, what we really need are universal background checks prior to authorization to purchase pot.

They are aimed at "disarming" most people, law-abiding and otherwise, for the public good. It keeps guns away from the criminals in the process. Take the UK, for instance, where there are stabbings in the news, but gun crime is not running rampant. The crooks can't get guns anywhere nearly as easily as they can here. Gun control works when implemented properly. Having it in some states but not others, and having fundamental weaknesses in it due to a flawed constitutional amendment from the 18th century, severely hampers its efficacy in the USA.

Or maybe they could have used the money they already took for that purpose. Once the government takes over, there will be no accountability, no responsibility, and they will soon be asking for more money. Im sure few will complain about "intelligent background checks" but no one can explain how it would prevent murder. Look at how many cases the killer should have been red flagged, but there was no action taken. I believe the solution will come from identifying those who are dangerous.

No dear, that's vehemence in my point of view. I'm using the profanity for emphasis, not as an expression of anger.
I know nuance of that sort is difficult to communicate via text, but do strain yourself to understand.

If that were true than no country on Earth could successfully regulate guns, which isn't the case. Plenty of countries have strict gun control laws and have way less shootings than we do, per capita. They're not special. There's no reason we can't do the same.

So now you support gun control just because Trump wants it.

Trump and Republicans are putting "red flag" laws into the works that would strip gun owners of their rights without due process. And Trump supporters are doing one of three things in response: Remaining silent, offering up excuses, or outright supporting new gun control. Trump and his people are now enemies of the second amendment.

It severely hampers the tyrannical impulses harbored by authoritarians such as yourself. Hence your desire to see it obliterated and Americans reduced to serfdom.

Ask Trump. He's the one saying we need more gun control instead of standing up for the second amendment like he should be doing.
