Thousands of Russians rally to demand free elections

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Thousands of Russians took to the streets of central Moscow on Saturday to demand free elections to the capital’s city legislature on Sept. 8, defying a ban which has been enforced with violent detentions during previous protests.

Weeks of demonstrations over elections for the city legislature have turned into the biggest sustained protest movement in Russia since 2011-2013, when protesters took to the streets against perceived electoral fraud.

Chanting “Russia will be free!” and “This is our city!”, up to 2,000 protesters marched through one of Moscow’s thoroughfares.

Today Moscow, tomorrow all of Russia ;)

    https://www.newsru.com/russia/30aug2019/kazaki_protest.html

According to this article, Russian veterans from eastern Ukraine are going to be participating in putting down Russian protests.
As that Russian trash comes back to Russia, the citizens will increasingly face the choice of either be a goat and hope your masters won’t select you for their next kabob party, or realize that they will be paying for their illegal actions in Ukraine that most of them supported for many generations and face these great liberators.

A fringe minority of Russians, probably backed by the CIA, is hardly a threat to the Russian state. But don't let reality get in the way of your wishful thinking.

Does that mean you believe everything is so great in Russia that only CIA enlisted minions would come to a protest?

No. I'm sure some of them are genuine. But one would have to be incredibly naive not to suspect a CIA hand in any protest movement that emerges inside Russia.

The only way to get Putin to step down from the leadership in Russia is to offer him asylum in the USA. I suggest that you contact President Trump and your representative in Congress. :)

One would have to be incredibly disconnected from reality to believe that the CIA could have any significant influence over the Russian people.

And one would have to be incredibly disconnected from reality to believe that this smattering of protesters somehow represents the Russian people as a whole.

Anyway, the CIA is notorious for identifying and attempting to organize fringe elements within adversarial nations for the purposes of destabilization and regime change. Clearly, Russia is near the top of the CIA's "regime change" wish list. So it would be beyond naive not to suspect some degree of CIA involvement in this protest.

If the CIA are involved it's guaranteed to fail.

It seems like with the fall of the Berlin wall we entered the eye of the hurricane and all over the world today we're descending into the other side.

Well, we're not in the wall yet, but we're close enough to get 1ft diameter hail and gale force winds.

Yes, but not before lots of people get hurt or killed and millions of tax dollars are flushed down the toilet.

That’s rich, considering that it’s coming from someone who claims to be an American who doesn’t trust own government. Everything is great in Russia, absolutely no reason for their citizens to be upset. People who protest must be CIA agents because their government is so great, no sane Russian have any reason to object.

We will either see trickles of information on dead Russians or witness the removal of Putin relatively soon. I would venture to guess on the first option.

I pity the Russian people right now.

This is exactly what propaganda is all about. Someone makes a ridiculous suggestion and then another takes off on it as though it is true

You'd have to be disconnected from reality to think that it's just a "smattering" of protesters.

You're deeply invested in the cult of Putin, aren't you?

The only Americans who trust their government are idiots.

You cannot address my actual position so you are reduced to putting words in my mouth. How dishonest of you.

Yes, that's right. The CIA is notorious for fomenting and even organizing revolutions inside adversarial nations. They've been doing it for decades.

Are you completely oblivious to the CIA's history of propping up death squads and dictators and organizing coups? Do you live under a rock or something?

There is nothing ridiculous about suspecting CIA involvement in protest movements inside nations that are at odds with the US empire. In fact, it's ridiculous not to suspect it. One would have to be stunningly ignorant and naive not to seriously consider it.

A "few thousand" protesters in a country of 144 million people is less than a smattering.

Not as deeply invested as you are in the cult of US imperialism.

The fringe minority was 750 people, and as usual they are protesting without a permit. It's probably on a major thoroughfare and during rush hour. They want the police to respond so they can scream 'POLICE BRUTALITY' to the foreign medias.

Anyway the whole thing is based on a lie. The candidates the protesters want are not legally eligible to run for office.
