I tend to agree that younger people are moving past racism, but, as you pointed out, much of the "old guard" legacy is still with us. The thing that strikes me about this is that I wasn't aware of all the racism as it was happening when I was a child. I briefly went to a school that was still segregated and I didn't know it at the time. On the way home every day, we drove past the Black school and although I was curious, I didn't know why things were like that, never thought to question it. I remember incidents during that time that I came to realize much later were racist and part of the systematic racism of the day. When I think about it now, we're not as overt with our concept of racial division, but it's there in our minds. It's not something that changes over a generation.

Yes, we do have a long way to go. Yet, more and more I believe that we can achieve more by shifting more towards focusing on the idea of how we think in stereotypes rather than calling everything racist. I'm not suggesting race isn't at the core of it all, just that people (Whites) tend to be more comfortable with the idea of being called a stereotyper rather than a racist, even if race is the very core of it all.

Can't say that I have ever believed that

    Wrong again.

Or should I listen to folks like and believe that racist are a thing of the past.

No not everything, but I guess you want me to believe that they are not responsible for none of the racism and discrimination that black folks have faced in this country.

As far as the economics, I totally agree with you. The point being that more Blacks live in concentrated areas of poverty. It becomes a cycle.

Yes there is both. My point is the bias is MORE economic than racial. Much of what is portrayed as racial is really economic.

I think racial has been around a lot longer than the economical, but they could be tit for tat.

The affects of doing nothing while watching yourselves get hooked on government crumbs, while your families have disintegrated, have harmed you infinitely more.

Everybody benefits, if they would just get off their asses and refuse the crumbs of politicians.
And there are many more whites locked into this trap than blacks, so don't view yourselves as special. Black skin shouldn't get you any further ahead than the millions of impoverished, toothless, trailer park trash whites that refuse to get off the dole and support themselves.

Howard Cosell did the same thing 36 years ago. Little be known that Cosell had 5 grandkids at the time and called all of them little monkeys. People who tried to label Cosell as a racist were quickly proven wrong by athletes and other media personnel of all races.

Are you denying that the black community has a significant component of teenage pregnancy, fatherless children, illiteracy, drug and alcohol problems, violence, crime and dependency as compared to the white population?

Maybe apes evolved from humans since humans are more advanced than apes. That indicates that the human line is older than the ape line. We can see how apes are becoming more intelligent and one day they could become as intelligent as humans if we don't kill them off.

Is that why I've got rhythm? I just figured someone in my family history spent too much time behind the woodpile.
