The next day she gave a staged tearful apology.

The worse part of all this was the black man's reaction to the initial comment and to the staged apology.

It almost seems as though there is more going on here than meets the eye.

I know we are going to get the thing about George W. Bush was called a monkey and so on and so on and so on.

 

Not a big deal.

The NAACP telling reporters he doesen't talk to effing jews is far more worrisome.

 

I don't know, I'm withholding judgement.

I know a couple of girls who are obsessed with selfies (and those silly self-absorbed daily Instagram stories) These chicks are celebrities in their own minds, and we tease them sometimes. If I saw an [insert any animal of any color] hamming it up for selfies, I might say "it kind of looks like you with your selfies!"

Race is just not the first thing to jump into my mind with this story (or any story.) And yes, I know the gorilla thing (and yes, I remember Bush being compared to a monkey too.)

Some people hear hoof beats and think "horses", some people think "zebras", and I guess some people think "racists".

First of all, in this day and age everyone has to be careful what they say because people have been trained to be offended at everything. I've been called worse than a gorilla, but so what? It's just words and I grew up in the 'sticks and stones' era.

Do people literally sit around in pain and cry because this stupid woman called someone they'll never meet a gorilla? Who apologizes for the 'hurt' I feel when white people are attacked for being white?

The best part is the left will rip into this woman for using 'hurtful' words all while they intentionally use the most offensive words possible to describe the people they disagree with.

I remember the old days when the people could goof around and not be offended.

Remember when we used to see a lot of pics of people who look like their pets? Racist or not?

 

I've heard big railroad men called gorillas when I was a kid, white or black, and it was no big deal. The reference was to their burly strength, gorilla arms and shoulders from handling railroad iron and mauls all day.

One little woman down the street had to knock one of those gorillas out with a frying pan on payday. Happened to be white. She got the cash and paid the rent before it got drank and gambled up.

With all due respects the two stories are not equivocal. Both are bad but one horrible act does not justify another horrible act.

Horrible act? She did what she did back in a time when no one cared, even Whoopi Goldberg’s boyfriend did it. This was the same era National Geographic published stories and photos for which they are now apologizing for.
