I really believe that the reason the pendulum has swung so far left is because the right went completely insane (and still are to an extent) over several issues they should have just left alone. Gay rights, same sex marriage, personal marijuana usage, refusing to govern for numerous years, partisan electoral tricks and so on.

The pendulum will swing back towards the center eventually — if the country makes it.
