But this law says that disruptive behavior is to be tolerated for it. You., like California, ignore this.

By not allowing for suspension, they encourage bad behavior with no consequences.

The intent of this law which is allowing for disruptive behavior without the standard methods of consequences for their actions.

Pure fiction. There are other consequences.

From your second article, thanks for proving my point:

The attendance money is from the state, not the feds, so it would make no sense for a state law to be intended to increase the amount of state money going to the schools. This is not part of the issue of why they are stopping those suspensions at a state level.

How about your support of not punishing it, letting it go?

For two years I have been teaching at a school that's been piloting a "no suspension" policy (although we do suspend/expel if we think the kid is a danger to others).

It's challenging. The thinking is that sending a kid home for something like defiance isn't doing the kid any favors. They're right about that. But there's other leverage besides suspension. I do a monthly party for the kids, and staying off the "no party list" is a powerful motivator. We also have on-campus suspension for kids who are making it impossible to teach.

Lunch detention, being banned from pep rallies, Saturday School, on-campus suspension, phone calls home, missing out on class rewards, etc.

I will assume that you meant ask you again and the answer is obvious. To either hear you defend no punishment or come out with what you consider proper punishment. Is that simple enough for you?

If they are out of control already, none of these things will work and some snowflakes will cry about violating their rights.

Good point. The parents are likely the problem and spending an extra day with them may not help. The party list is a great idea.

That is not true. You just don't get suspended.

This one is interesting to me. Isn't parental pick-up (when a kid leaves the school at any time other than the usual) mandatory? At least for juniors - ie, kids under 17.

Not true. All kids can be 'improved' by an improvement in the actions of the adults around them.

They were banning suspension. Suspension is a reward for problem kids. So suspension isn't a deterrent.

    Failures?

Who said they are ignoring or encouraging anything. They banned suspension. It doesn't say anything about alternatives to be used.

Why are you throwing out false arguments? Just making up the facts in your own little head? Yep!
