Trump has shifted his legal defense from claiming that a sitting President can not be indicted for crimes to claiming that a sitting President can not be investigated.

When you combine that argument with the fact that Trump is arguing that Congressional Subpoenas are subject to an absolute immunity by the executive branch, you are left with the realization that Trump is trying to embody the wishes of his supporters - to become a king that is only subject to review every four years.

It is a good thing that we have free and fair elections.

So they are basically admitting that he has committed crimes?

Interesting defense strategy. If he wins in 2020 most of not all of his crimes committed during his first term will be past the statute of limitations.
More reason to vote if you value the integrity of our systems.

I'd disagree with that, but would say the President has a lot of leeway in ignoring subpoenas or orders.
Theoretically though, if both houses passed resolutions demanding he do something specific, he would have to do it (or would at least be under a great deal of pressure to do it).

When we are talking about Congressional subpoenas though we are not talking about Congress, we are talking about someone appointed by Congress. So it's not the same thing as explicitly defying Congress.

You are obfuscating by throwing different things together to prove one of those things. A president can be investigated for suspected criminal activities, the special counsel being a prime example, though there are limits to that. But he cannot be investigated for non crimes dressed up to look like crimes (to the uninitiated...). Congressional subpoenas for information the congress just want to peruse to see if they can find anything is a clear prima facie violation of the separation of powers. Those subpoenas belong in the waste basket.

The desperation of the left is mind blowing! Going after his accounting firm? Haha

I am glad to see the president standing up and fighting back against this desperate and sad behavior

You're kidding, of course. Lots of people are above the law - just not you or I.

I am wondering that myself. I am still voting for Republican candidates on local and state levels but for POTUS after MCCain lost I just write in a name of a Republican who is not endorsed by the party or a Libertarian.
Even when I was a Registered Democrat I split my ticket and never voted for all Democrats.

did he really say that, that would be like admitting he is guilty, congress has a duty to investigate the president if they believe a crime may have been committed, the founders did this to prevent corruption

At some point aren't the Democrats going to realize that there will be a Democrat President and the Republicans can persecute in kind.

never said they could, they conduct investigations for impeachment, the only way the founders could think of to keep a president from being corrupt

No they conduct impeachment investigations. Congress can’t put anyone in prison so it’s obviously not a criminal investigation

Like Clinton. The move to impeach him started as soon as he took office too. Took 6 years to finally nail him. What’s happening to Trump is just politics post Watergate. If the Dems are smart they will not nominate anyone with skeletons in their closet. If they do, they should expect to be investigated to death.
