I didn't say he wasn't duly elected, just saying that our presidential election process should change, since twice now in this century alone the candidate with the most votes lost the election. Down-ballet elections are also being stolen through gerrymandering and minority voter supression. When the minority party holds the majority of power positions nationally and in many states, I believe the word for that is tyranny.

What would your solution be? You didn't say, and I'm interested. Perhaps you could start a thread on that concept.

The NFL's participants are not children. Do you get the difference? A Trumpster group, the Proud Boys, had stated their intention to attend the game. The school's first priority is to keep the children safe. Where is the double standard there?

The hypocrisy is the claim that liberals shut down free speech while conservatives do it far more often while claiming to be free speech's guarantors. Nobody is a bigger political hypocrite than the far right as we see every day on this forum.

What? Did any conservative cancel an NFL game? And the NFL is not the government, the school IS the government and they shut down speech. If you don't understand the 1st Amendment then I don't know what to say.

 

Can you show us where conservatives shut down free speech. I can point to a whole lot of incidents where the left shut down speech they didn't like and used violence to do it.

 

I don't want to thread hijack here, but sure... It's always made sense to me. I've run the numbers back to 1956, and no elections would have changed except the 2 that will be questioned for 100 years, Bush 2000 and Trump 2016.

It's not complicated.. Basically, no states are winner-take-all for EC votes... You get the pct of that states EC votes based on the pct of votes you get. Then you divvy up 3rd party and "rounding" EC votes based the same way... I have a whole spreadsheet formula...

For instance, California 2016 (55 Votes)... Instead of all 55 to Clinton, she gets 34 with 61.7% of the state vote.... Trump gets 17 with 31.6%... The 4 rounding/3rd party votes go to Clinton as the state winner.

Using this, I have Clinton 272, Trump 266, which would be the closest election I've calculated.

2000 - Gore 273, Bush 265..

The blowouts are still blowouts, but more representative of the division of the country.

1984 Reagan 324, Mondale 214
1972 Nixon 338, McGovern 200

Who camps out in front of the homes of people they don’t like? Leftists. Who marches up and down streets calling for cops to be murdered? Leftists. Threads about school officials shutting down support for our elected president not about private citizens expressing their opinion. And NFL games were not canceled due to threats of violence against kneeling players.

 

As I recall students have been allowed to protest against guns and for teacher strikes on campus as they were allowed to skip classes to do so. Suddenly though when some girls want to show support for America's sitting president it's just too controversial.School officials conversely were very tolerant of on campus gun demonstrations.
