She's also been diagnosed with OCD, and that's absolutely a mental illness.

It's highly unethical to exploit children with mental illnesses.

What about it? Just because matter is conserved as energy doesn't mean we can put that energy back (even a value greater than a percentage) to use as resources, especially given our current level of technology. We are nowhere near that.

What do you mean no energy exchanged?
    What does basically mean?

This might be inappropriate but I think she’s a ballsy girl.

She’s right. Corps like Exxon once leaders on climate research went underground with it and simultaneously began spitting out denial nonsense solely to “protect” their bottom-line.

The worst case scenario: corrupt Corp leaders with no vision or character. Unfortunately, we’ve recycled too many of them through our government.

She's a minor, not an adult.

If she's there, she's there because her parents both put the ideas into her head, and put her in front of the world.

This, despite her history of mental illness.

Earth is not an isolated system, there is clearly energy exchange between the earth and the surroundings (sun light absorbed by the earth, IR radiation emitted).

No matter how much steel we use in making cars or what have you we still have exactly the same amount of steel we began with. the same is true for almost every thing else. Petroleum is an exception. but by the time we start to run out we will find other processes to replace it.

She put herself out there and she attacked. That makes her fair game. Re-read my OP -- I also attacked her message. If she wants to play grown-up she had better get used to opinions different than hers. Truman said it best, "If you can't stand the heat stay out of the kitchen". Will Rogers said it best, "Everyone talks about the weather but no one does anything about it". I also liked Trump's quote, "“She seems like a very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future. So nice to see!”.

So the real qestion then is why did the malthusianist jackasses trot out a fifteen year old girl to tell us the same thing their tame scientists have been telling us for the last two centuries? The answer is, of course easy, emotional blackmail. Same reason they made such a to do over the parkland kids

This is getting really tedious, but I'll say this. At the very least you are extremely optimistic about us finding a way to replace fossil fuels by the time we either run out or their usage causes some other disaster to the environment, which is likely. And that is the least of my points I could make in followup. Also your first point is completely untrue. There are losses in every reaction, small yes, but there nonetheless.

You are familiar are you not with the law of conservation of matter correct?

Problem is, even if you are understanding the law of conservation correctly, which I highly doubt by your responses, even then, laws do not work in isolation.

Indeed there are but we are getting better and better at recovering those losses. Already a significant proportion of the metals we use in the US are recycled.

Obviously, otherwise I wouldn't discuss the issue. What is your point?

That we have about as much iron now as when we started.same with aluminum. Given the composition of most meteorites we actully have more of certain metals.

And? Refinement and recycling of metals still requires energy. THAT's where the problem is. We have gotten so used to the wanton waste of oil as a precious resource that we can't imagine any other lifestyle. We basically eat oil in today's mechanized agriculture. Every calorie we ingest requires 3 calories of energy input -- from oil. Of course, the only solution for by of those problems that I hear from the like who criticize Thunberg is: The free market will fix it for us. That's not a plan for the future.

The left uses children as they did Greta, as they do with the illegal aliens, and as they did in Parkland. And when it comes to abortion the left has no problem killing the children. That should tell you something about the left.

And when we get low on petroleum we will discover other processes to replace it. That's the history of the world when you keep government out of the picture. Left entirely to government our cities would still be covered in horse crap.

No, 15 year olds are not able to make the decision to go on a national stage.

Their parents have to authorize it.
