Sure, and collapse as a trading partner and start a world wide recession. Why don’t we just tax the rich a couple more percent and move on ? Oh,the gop owes their donors.

Under the scenario we were discussing, it only makes sense if we had already a balanced budget. You seem to forget that. Like all conservatives who don’t pay their debts, they live in La La land.

Of course they did. But the domestic funds they support, keep people alive. The gop increases military spending because having one bigger then the next five nations combined, isn’t enough. And then, there is the stooopid wall.

Not from the Dems. They cut Medicare parts other then part A because it duplicated what was covered by Medicaid expansion mandated by Obama care. Talk to any Medicare recipient. Any ! Their benefits increased after Obamacare was enacted. You’re getting fake news from Faux.
    http://swampland.time.com/2012/08/16/fact-check-obamacares-medicare-cuts/

The cuts were to private insurers which Obamacare now covered....

None offered. It is pointless to try and discuss with you such matters as you will speciously claim you have already refuted anything posted and refuse to answer direct questions to you. Your posting history is quite well known.

Did say it earned interest on personal accounts, what's your point. It earns interest for the trust fund which is used to pay benefits. If you can't argue what I post don't bother. And I am all for investing in stock and bond index funds so that interest is earned in the private markets, I have stated that repeatedly.

Oh, you now realize that interest earned on T bills comes from your own tax dollars, and as an individual you realize nothing. The meager interest is debt funds. Every penny the Treasury adds in interest to the monies taken from the trust funds, INCREASES THE DEBT.

SO, NOW YOU WANT TO INVEST IN THE STOCK MARKET with SS trust funds ? So you want to privatize SS ? You’re grabbing at straws because you know little about the economy.

It is not taken from the trust fund it is paid by general revenues. So what do you want them invested in if not the special T-Bills or long term stock and bond index funds? Buried in the backyard of the US Treasury?

That and cut spending. Apparently liberals don't want to compromise on all across the board spending and yes I mean defense too.

How about this? Our national revenue is 3 trillion something, but our national spending is 4 trillion. How about we cut the national spending in half to 2 trillion. The revenue would side would be higher which is 3 trillion and I think that would also work.

I already know what the response will be that's impossible when we have things like SS, Medicare and Medicaid and defense, but I would you could cut 1 trillion from defense alone.

Or more realistically, how about a combination of tax hikes and spending cuts to balance the budget?

Cut spending ? Conservatives have never cut overall spending, even when in complete control of the budget.....NEVER.
They spend like drunken sailors, taking money from job creating medical and scientific research . Recessions follow EVERYONE of THEIR bloated defense spending budgets in modern times..

Yup, but. You can’t literally cut spending when growth and inflation demands yearly increases. What you can do is cap increases to moderate levels, which Clinton and every Dem President has tried to do. The tax hikes only occur after the insane tax cuts for the rich and trickle down that all modern repos use to pay off their donors.

It was the GOP when in complete control that passed massive tax cuts and created the huge deficit. You forgot that. If the Dem controlled congress had the power you make believe they do with only 1/3 the influence, they would roll back thebtax cuts...dah.

You could be right; I know it's gone up in every single administration including Trumps. No end in sight it seems.
