My owning inanimate objects does not interfere with your right to live. Not sure how you can't understand that...

And if you gave a gun to every person in Japan they still wouldn't run around shooting each other.

Meanwhile, in Japan, the Yakuza still use guns to commit crimes.

This place can make learning fun. I come here almost entirely for entertainment value. Although I take 2nd Amendment and other individual Constitutional rights seriously. Its sickening how easily people would throw away my rights to assuage their petty fears...

Well said. If nothing else this is a window into the mind of the authoritarian.

Why would any of those rights be in conflict?

The Yakuza actually don't use guns.

    From Forbes:

Japan has some of the most stringent gun-control laws in the world. It is a crime to own a gun, or a bullet, an aggravated charge to own both, and firing a gun can get a yakuza (or civilian) more than twenty years in prison. This is why in a nation of over 122 million people, there was only one murder with a gun for 2016. (The victim was a yakuza). Yakuza don’t know how to use guns, for the most part. There’s no place to practice.

Perhaps the US should transform itself into a 1,000 year old homogeneous society of 126 million people. That would probably help.

Notice how little attention this shooting got from the dems and media. It did not fit the dem narrative.

Gun laws have minimized shootings in developed nations. This is a simple fact. Australian gun homicides have gone down drastically since their gun laws in the 1990s.

I'm afraid they do use guns, and you just gave an example of a Yakuza being shot to prove your point

The reason they don't have mass shootings is the same reason they don't have mass stabbings: Japanese people have an extremely low murder rate.

Giving people who don't want to kill others guns doesn't suddenly make them want to kill people.

A gun's sole purpose is to kill. That's what a gun is for. It's literally a killing machine.

They Yakuza don't use guns. I thought this was common knowledge.

Australia? Perhaps the US should reduce its population to 25 million people. Maybe that would help.

Which is why I like my 85 pound 90 year old grandma to have one. She would never stand a chance against an 18 year old 210 pound criminal.

Also, which is why peace officers carry them.

    Here's an idea:

Ban firearms and anyone caught dealing firearms faces years of prison time. And if someone is killed with a firearm, the person who sold that firearm will face execution.

See? You have to be smart and go after the dealers, because unlike those suicidal shooters, they stand to lose something.

Gun violence started going down in the early 80's in Australia.

What gun law did we pass in the US? Oh yeah. None.

But there's a difference between a pistol and the redneck with a garage of rifles.

Why would we want to ban firearms?

But you want to ban firearms and not allow my grammy to defend herself?

So you admit that the gun homicide rate in America is about 4x higher per 100,000 people than in Australia? Because that's what your charts show.

The same reason we want to ban nuclear warheads and lethal barbituates and hand grenades.

A government-issued self-defense pistol is acceptable, but the candidate would need to go through annual psychological evaluation and be able to justify owning a pistol.
