You are mistaken, not that it has anything to do with this terrible situation.

I did not. I cited several developed nations where gun laws have worked to minimize gun violence.

Why would you handicap private citizens?

Oh, so since the US is not 98% racially homogeneous, I suppose your comparisons are invalid.

So you're claiming that rampant black-on-black gun violence isn't a thing in America?

Yes it is. But not so much of a thing in Japan. Your comparison is flawed.

First you imply that an ethnically homogenous group is less prone to gun violence. Now you claim the opposite.

What does any of that have to do with this terrible situation?

Before jumping into a conversation blindly, read our posts leading up to this.

I did. You are trying to make this some leftist manifesto that it is not.

Then you shouldn't have needed to ask why my post is relevant. I'm debunking the other poster's claims.

I'm aware. I lived in Japan for over a decade.

    Not the point.

Yakuza do have guns. Yakuza are the most likely to use them, yet they still don't.

The reason Japanese people don't shoot other people has nothing to do with gun laws.

It has to do with immigration laws and Japanese culture.

Do the people shooting people in Chicago and Baltimore face years of prison time for having weapons?

    Do they still do it?

    Yes, I disagree.

I love how you're focusing on me and not the message. Fabulous!!!

You're trying to force some partisan nonsense where it doesn't belong.

You cannot show this to be true.
It does not matter how many times you repeat this post hoc fallacy, it remains a post hoc fallacy.

You cannot show this to be true.
You also cannot show how this, even if it were true, is relevant to what he said.

You need to reread my post. I never talked about going after the shooter. I talked about going after the seller.

This is what China does and why, even though their population is 4x ours, their gun homicide rate is 16x lower.

How would you prevent Joe from giving a firearm to Bob?

No law can prevent someone from doing something, but with a strong enough punishment, a person is less likely to do it. If Joe knows that he will be given life for selling the firearm to Bob and will face execution if that gun is used to kill someone, Joe will be less likely to sell it to Bob.

And which of congress's legislative powers would enable a law that would kill people for giving a gun to someone?

Or are you talking about doing this crazy stuff in your own state?
