What Graham said yesterday on Maria Bartiromo's show was that the Senate has a rule that they must receive the articles to start a trial. Since that is a Senate rule, they can change the rule to go ahead without the articles being submitted. After that, they would start a trial and hear from both sides. If Nancy refuses to send her Impeachment Managers to the trial, then the Senate will file a motion to dismiss the charges.

Nancy changed impeachment rules in the House to suit her liking. Now the rules, including changing the rules, are up to the Senate.

She can spin her wheels all she wants, and so can the Senate. "The end" happens in 301 days with the 2020 election. Nancy is wasting the Democrats two-year control of the House by trying to overthrow Trump. She has no respect for the will of the voters.

I can't name a less successful impeachment process. The others had bipartisan support.

One with evidence and referring to High Crimes or Misdemeanors. Oh . . . and then one that is actually -- you know -- submitted after having declared that it was a vital national interest that it be rammed through the House in the first place.

Andrew Johnson was impeached with a bipartisan supermajority vote in the house. Still the senate lacked one vote for a conviction -- a very sad day for the American Negro.

This unimpeachment ain't going nowhere toward a conviction.

Seeing that I horribly voted him over the corruption known as Clinton I have no idea what you are getting at.

So because past corruption was allowed we must allow all future corruption. Thats an excellent idea!

Republicans should play hard ball and dismiss it 10 minutes after Pelosi sends the paperwork to the Senate.

Each scenario is different... what worked for the Clinton impeachment trial may not work for Trump's...

But having fact witnesses at any type of trial shouldn't be a foreign concept to anybody...

Very doubtful Nancy will forward the Articles today, so the ball is in your court, Senator...

Nah. We don't want to go low like Pelosi. Graham said they can change the rule that the articles have to be submitted to the Senate and move forward with the trial. The Senate plan (at the moment) is to follow the Clinton impeachment rules. Nancy's prosecutors would make their case, and Trump's defense would make his. After that, the Senate would take a vote on whether they need additional witnesses....or not.

The only time Graham mentioned dismissing the charges was if Nancy decided to do something else dumb and boycott the trial.

It's amazing to me, to see the level of gaslighting, handwaving, and the rest of the mental gymnastics the Right is doing to absolve Trump his completely translucent level of guilt ("Clear Directive from POTUS to Hold") shows that nothing matters beyond abusing the system to keep a con man afloat.

    So many deflections
'Pelosi didn't send the articles right away. Therefore it's not real' (Are you serious? This is just stupid)
'Because the articles dont' contain things that I consider 'high crimes and misdemeanor' they are null and void. (Equally stupid)
'The process didn't play out the way that I think it should have. Therefore Null and Void'

    Etc...etc.. into ad-nausea

It's simply not going to be believed by the right that Trump unilaterally withheld the aid with no legally valid reason or official notification (thus violating US law) unless he says it himself.

And at that point, it's perfectly OK, since Trump says it's OK...

"You're ******ned right I ordered the Code Red. And BTW, Code Reds are now good for America."

Just because 84% of Democrats want to throw Trump out doesn't mean that Republicans and Independent voters are "gaslighters, handwavers, and mental gymnastic-ers :)rolleyes:)". This is an inevitable outcome of the House running a purely partisan impeachment circus.

The arrogance of calling Trump supporters "stupid" is one of the reasons he got elected in the first place.

And yes, voters will decide whether the impeachment articles have enough merit to toss Trump out.

    301 Days until the 2020 election. :)

True, but remember, Pelosi has no say in the senate.

McConnell should ignore it completely until they decide to send it to the senate.

No talks, no negotiation, until it gets to the senate.

Funny how you interpret my comments to mean

    a) the entire Rep/Ind voters
    b) the people making the stupid statements
    c) that the validity of the articles will have much of a meaningful impact on the voting desires of the Rep base

It was up to the house to produce findings. They did not do that. It will be dismissed. It is a political process. The Democrat House couldn't convince, the Republican Senate will dismiss. Get over it. While you're at it, get over 2016!!

Impeachment is a political process - and thus, politics inherently enters into it.
You know, like when the House conducted its impeachment "investigation".
