How do they “get the evidence” when it can be blocked by the president*?

Why are the right so terrified of an actual trial seeing as y’all believe he did nothing wrong?

    Who said history doesn’t matter?
I said the crimes of the past should not excuse the crimes of today, do you disagree?

Good of you to admit the house does not have the evidence necessary to prove its charges.

Same way evidence of Benghazi and fast and furious, it's called the Judicial System, they determine what's right. Bottom line the President is an equal branch and has certain rights.

How were they able to impeach the President without the evidence?

I would ask the same of you about an investigation about the Bidens Ukraine and China payoffs.

I am fine with an investigation into the Bidens. I support ending corruption no matter where it exists. I don’t support a failing president* using congressionally approved taxpayer funds to bribe foreign nations though. Or a president* that daily violates the oath and principle of the office.

If there was no evidence readily available with or without witnesses, they should not have impeached. During the Clinton impeachment, the House subpoenaed all the witnesses they wanted, and yes, they waited for the courts to make the subpoenas legal. THEN, they sent articles to the Senate the same day.

No fear over a trial in the Senate. The outcome won't surprise anyone.

But you're asking a question directly contradicting your "I'm not splaining impeachment again". You sure you know whatcha talking about?

Trump has been impeached by the House rules and will be tried in the Senate by the Senate rules. By the way, did you know the Senate is Republican-controlled?

No need to cry wolf, my friend.

Why is it so difficult to answer the question posed? People are responding to my question, but no one is answering it. Why is that? It isn't a difficult question, after all. And if it is deemed a ridiculous question, why even respond?

How do they impeach, if the didn't get evidence? Because they felt like it?

Insofar as her time frame to transfer the articles passed by this body, it actually 'works' through December 2021, after which a the new House membership gets sworn in. That is the expiration date on House legislative business passed by this group of legislators. Now if the Senate 'grabs' the articles from the House, to dismiss them, then she does not need to send them at all, does she?

Good question. Constitutional speaking its vague. I was thinking about this today, I don't really think Nancy want to go with this. She isn't stupid. She has been in DC polticis for the better part of 20 years. She knows how the game is plaied and a few cards to play as well. I think the far left, hijacked the democrats in the HOR ran with it. And because of that she was forced to go along with it. The fact that she hasn't sent them over. gives me the impression that this a lost cause and she knows it and her ass and the rest of the dems are in some major hot water.

That was an exquisite piece of logic. I name yours . . . post of the week. Very nice!

That would be lovely leftist logic except for one weeeeeeeeeeeee little point, in that it was an entirely sham style strictly politically partisan impeachment; and the entire nation knows it.

I love it when a two sentence "post of the week" is factually incorrect twice....

    Certain symmetry there..

But I give Hawley some credit for at lease doing something sort of like he said he would do, although his measure is not to dismiss..

    SNIP
U.S. SEN. JOSH HAWLEY of Missouri on Monday proposed a change in Senate rules that would allow the GOP-controlled chamber to dismiss President Donald Trump's impeachment.

The proposal would empower the Senate to dismiss the articles of impeachment if the House fails to deliver them within 25 days of its impeachment vote, which was Dec. 18.

A change to the Senate rules requires a two-thirds majority of 67 votes and Republicans hold only 53 seats in the Senate.

Let me be clear, I don't think she has ever had any intention of not transferring them or not appointing House managers. I think her intention was exactly what she claimed, when she would wait until she knew the Senate rules on this trial were going to be, consult with those managers-to-be, on their preferences on timing on strategy beforehand, ( and put some extra pressure on McConnell by making more of a story about how he's cooking the trial for Trump in conflict with the oath he took) I don't really think she is going to wait more than a couple of months at most.

Wow... couple of months?... Even I think she'd get slaughtered at that long a delay... I figure she has until the SOTU at absolute max.

What rationale could she use to delay a couple of months, then springing them for a reason yet TBD?

It's been 18 days since they voted on the articles. They were in such a hurry to pass the articles, because Trump was such a danger to national security, that they skipped enforcing their subpoenas and now, for some unfathomable reason, time doesn't matter. Yay Mitch. Screw them.

It always comes back to that, no matter how hard they argue, they can never get away from that persistent fact.
