If Trump didn't follow through with the things we elected him for, if he lied like y'all think he does, and if he started taking away our rights like the democrats want to do, THEN I would believe that he's a dictator or becoming one.
No, it is both. Trump declared a NE explicitly because he needed to use it as a justification for repurposing funds after being shutdown by Congress for that specific project.
Bernie Sanders is getting 31% of the Democratic Party approval right now. But is it a matter of that is all the support Bernie will ever get or are other candidates going to pickup the 69% of the votes that Bernie does not have right now? Bernie Sanders is a known commodity. People know he is a socialist and what he stands for already. Do other relatively unknown candidates, even though they trail Bernie at the moment, stand to pick up the lions share of the 69% of those not feeling the Bern right now once they become more well known? My feeling is that those individuals who already like Bernie Sanders are already strongly committed to him and there isn't much more support that he can pick up. Being up right now doesn't mean a whole lot right now.
So overriding Congress with the threat of using your pen and phone because you're in the highest office of power is not the sign of a dictator, is that what you're telling me?
Exactly. And the Overwhelming Majority of Pragmatic Dems. already realize that a Sanders Nomination would all but guarantee flipping back The House to GOP (As the R's reclaim the 2018 R to D pickups). Bernie would have a disastrous effect on down ballot races.
I would point to Donald Trump in contrast though. Trump was well known at this point in the Republican primary and he garnered roughly the same, or slightly worse, amount of support than Bernie is obtaining at this point. And yet his supporters were diehard and unwilling to shift to any other candidate and as the other Republican nominees dropped out and as Trump continued to acquire delegates, the Republicans coalesced around Trump even after many of those Republicans called Trump all manner of absolutely horrible labels. Bernie, while he has an arguable ceiling, is far far more popular amongst the rest of the Democrats than Trump was at this point in the Republican primary 4 years ago.
...And the "Government attempting to limit the rights" in your reference to the Civil War was not a fight over "The Federal Government mandating that Slavery and denying the ability of States to limit Slave rights?" Because that's the group which won...
Of course you're unaware. That was my point. That's why I said your double standards finally cost you. One would think some renovations in the DNC would take place so y'all don't stick it in your own asses again, but lo and behold, ignorance still prevails over there.
This post makes no sense to me. Trump is the one who shut down the government and then re-opened it by signing the budget while declaring a national emergency so that he could repurpose the money.
The most recent election, 2018, is a pretty strong example of Democrats thrashing the ass of Republicans.
The Government is "shut down" all the time.. Again re-purposing money is not against the law departments do it all the time.
Saying "I have second article that says I have the power to do whatever I want" is a sign of a dictator. That's what I am telling you.
Declaring a National Emergency solely to get access to funds for a project that Congress already determined was not worthy of funding is against the law and Trump is the first President to do such.
Who thinks that the centrist independent voters that will ultimately decide the election will vote for Bernie? Enough of them voted for Trump in 2016 and I think given the choice of Bernie or Trump they will be realist and not hand this country over to socialism! Just my humble opinion.
What "party" was that? Posts like that belong in the Conspiracy Section: http://www.politicalforum.com/index.php?forums/jfk.66/ You're Welcome.
Trump is merely using the powers granted to him by our US Constitution....that's nothing close to being like a dictator. Bernie is a socialist, which is one step away from Communism....both of which run counter to our Constitution...I'd say he is more of a dictator and more of Communist then Trump.
You make a very good point. There is one important difference (well more than one, but it makes the narrative too long, so just humor me) between Trump and Sanders. Bernie Sanders is just angry all the time. He is like the grandfather that none of the kids want to be around. His demeanor is dour, he has no sense of humor, and he has a perpetual scowl on his face. Although I didn't vote for Trump, he at least has some charisma which will get him past the celiing that Bernie may have hit. If you aren't completely repulsed by Trump, you can at least be amused by him. He is very persuasive and charismatic at his rallies from what I hear from people who actually attended them.
There is a large portion of this country that legitimately hate their lives and believe that with socialism, they may have purpose. That, and they're mad because their lives suck so they think bringing down more successful people somehow makes life a little more fair.
