Bernie could win the Pop. Vote by 5 Million (by running up margins in Cali, Etc.) and still lose the EC because of the Rust Belt.

    Everybody sees that.

If you want a laugh listen to Crowders Sanders impressions... Imo closer to Gilbert Goldfried ( spelling?) then Sanders but still funny.

    1) Bernie is not a Commie - this is a demonization tactic on steroids. Every other first world nation in the world has socialized medicine -that does not make their leaders like Stalin and Mao.

    2) It is true that Trump is far more totalitarian than Bernie

    3) Trump is more socialist than Bernie - 'wealth redistribution is socialism.

    Thrashing is a bit extreme...

If you recall, that night was supposed to be a blue wave. It was nothing more than a blue overfilled pond water.

Um, why focus on healthcare? Focus on his other proposals then come back and argue hes not a commie.

You are welcome to support totalitarianism if you like - it is still a marginally free country.

The Bern is moving up. For those with socialist beliefs, why aren't you practicing your beliefs now? You could gather others with the same beliefs, pull your resources and live the dream without forcing it on others.

So you think Republicans should vote for Bernie ? Since Trump is even more socialist than Bernie - Republicans will probably stick with Trump.

Still haven't learned your lesson about 1,200 person polls, eh? US, UK, Germany, and nearly every civilized country besides Canada is ousting democrats in recent elections.

Bernie is unique in that he's wed to his economic theories. I seriously doubt he can marshal a majority of national democrat voters.

You dont know Bernies proposals? No worries, I'll help you out, friend...

A 25% tax increase on the wealthy. New social programs. Rent control. Nearly doubling the min wage for low value employees. Free college. Cancel student loan debt. Restrict charter schools.

All programs to get people dependent on government for their existence.

If you're into that sort of thing, you know, if you're life sucks and youre broke, then I get it.

But let's not argue that that isnt socialism... and no, not the white people kind.

The utopian schemes of leveling and a community of goods, are as visionary and impractical as those which vest all property in the crown. These ideas are arbitrary, despotic, and, in our government unconstitutional.
    --Samuel Adams

True, and it's remarkable how that didn't stick for either Klobuchar or Buttegieg. It appears that a lot of their support has moved over to Nanny State Mike and he hasn't debated anyone yet.

The reason - as it was in 2016 - is to avoid damaging the potential nominee, and that applies not only to Bloomberg but Sanders, as well.

So far, Biden seems to be the only one who has been willing to step up and take issue with Sanders being a socialist and the problem that poses for Democrats not only in the presidential election but the elections down-ticket. Will Bloomberg go there, but more importantly will the candidates have the Capitalism vs. Socialism debate that they need to have and voters need to see before the convention and the general election? The candidates and moderators need to confront that head-on, in my opinion, and maybe with Bloomberg up on the stage they'll finally debate that. If they don't, people are going to start asking themselves why.

And here's the rub - Hillary was an extremely unlikable, flawed and vulnerable candidate in 2016 and if Sanders had taken off the gloves and gone after her he might have won the Dem nomination. Furthermore, playing nicey-nice didn't keep that extremely unlikable, flawed and vulnerable candidate from losing the general election. So far, I've seen little sign that the candidates in this year's field have learned anything from that experience. You're right - Trump is going to go after his opponent hard - and if those chummy weaklings across the aisle don't stop playing patty cakes with one another it's going to be a big problem for Dems down the road.

I know these proposals - just did not know which one you were referring to. I never said these were not socialist programs - to the contrary - all forms of wealth redistribution is Socialism. This however does not make it Soviet Style Communism - where most resources and means of production is owned by the totalitarian state.

If you are looking for the king of wealth redistribution - look no further than Trump - who makes Obama look like a fiscal conservative.

There was a lot more to states rights than slavery. Pick up a book that was written prior to the revisionists rewriting history.

Either way, you know damn well that taking our freedoms in the 21st century has jackshit to do with slavery. Get some new material.

I know we almost never agree on anything, TLegal, but you did a damn nice job with opening this thread!

And in a moment of weakness, I'll confess that even though I am diametrically-opposed to almost everything I hear Sanders advocate, deep down inside I LIKE HIM PERSONALLY. I know, in the perception of radical Leftists, I'm some kind of monstrous Right-wing Nazi, and I shouldn't like him.

I should loathe and despise him as much as I ever loathed Obama, Hillary, and several of the others... but I LIKE old Bernie because when you mash all the air bubbles out of it, he's probably the most honest, ethical, and fundamentally decent person in the entire race this year! So, his current standing in the race for the Democrat nomination notwithstanding, you can bet everything you own that the DNC will make very damned sure that he doesn't get it!

There, now, I'll try to control myself better in the future....

So government controlling construction and rent prices, salaries, tuition expenses, debt forgiveness, and adding additional social welfare programs isnt like a totalitarian state?

What else would they need to control for you to consider it Russian socialism?

You should ask the black community how government dependence has helped them over the last 50 years.

Then ask the Asian community how government independence has hurt them.

I wouldn't call that a thrashing. Y'all lost seats in the Senate. Do you think billions of Hollywood and other out of state money is gonna be pouring into state elections in 2020? Y'all wanted to make a statement in 2018 but all you did is prove how petty and childish y'all can be by impeaching the president because you couldn't beat him. That brought his support numbers up even higher and gave Americans a sense of the true intentions of what democrats really stand for.
