Since you listed them as safety improvements to guns one assumes you think they make guns safer.

only if English is their second or third language. And I don't think the people serving in the military own the guns but perhaps given your vast reservoir of knowledge you can prove me wrong.

So you think those in military service who speak English as a second language are idiots? Whoa.

When did anyone claim those in the military own the weapons they use in service?

Didn’t say that either but thanks for trying. And the whole topic about making guns safer has centered around gun owners.

    Bubba? Dat you? :)

Kidding. But do you understand the concept of “drop safe” beyond just carelessness?

Perhaps you need to clarify the language reference. Not sure what it has to do with firearms or safety.

The Sig p320 is the m17, the new handgun of the US military. So if we discuss that gun and it’s safety features in the context of making things idiot proof it kind of disparages those users as well as civilian idiots.

Of course you are correct. Guns will never be safe.

And exactly how do guns drop without carelessness? Guns don’t drop guns people do!

Firearms are safe when used in a responsible manner. Just as are numerous other consumer goods currently available on the market in the united states.

Why would you question my credibility? Everything I’ve stated is a fact. If what I say isn’t true, it should be easy for you to demonstrate my error. Yet you resort to thinly veiled ad hominem. Why is that?

Ah, so you don’t understand the concept of “drop safe”. I find that is common amongst people who merely plink on the range. The same forces subjected to a gun when dropped can easily be applied to a firearm in practical use even without dropping. And firearms in practical use can be dropped due to circumstances outside the user’s control. Not every firearm is held flat footed on the range. Most manufacturers understand this even though they know many firearm owners will never even conceive of operating their product outside of that paradigm.

Mine are pretty safe, I've lived with them for 40 years and no firearms have attacked me yet, they just sit there, I guess I'm just lucky

That’s why they are safe. You are not using them.

No. Why would you think that? But all my firearms are used for practical purposes and are often subjected to forces that could result in unintended discharge if manufacturers didn’t design for safety.

I use them in the appropriate manner.
I know some won't believe me but the second I set them down, they just sit there right where I left them, almost as if they were an inanimate object, but i'm no scientist, so take this with a grain of salt.

A firearm qualifies as being in use if it is being carried at the time.

You have yet to define a "safe gun".

I implore you to clarify what you meant by that comment. You won’t clarify so I’m forced to take a literal interpretation. You won’t clarify your references to first and second languages either.

Your posts are very hard to make sense of. For example, “make guns idiot proofing” in this post.

Whether you meant to imply gun handlers are idiots or not, you in fact did so. For example, loaded chamber indicators have practical applications beyond helping idiots be safe. Your ignorance of that fact leads you to make an incorrect statement that such features are to idiot proof weapons. When you claim safety features are to idiot proof weapons you are implying those who make practical use of those features are idiots. Nothing could be farther from the truth.

No such thing of course unless it is a gun imbedded in a concrete block. A safe gun might be biometric. One that is registered to the owner and one where the owner has undergone a thorough background check. One that is properly stored when not in use and one that has a limited capacity.

Thank you for clarifying your inability to properly comprehend the English language. Try a dictionary. “ Idiot proofing” does not imply that all or even the majority of gun users are idiots.

How would such ultimately serve to prevent the owner from using the firearm for the purpose of committing murder?
