It's almost too late for that to be of any use beyond tracking the numbers. If you are sick, quarantine yourself. If you get really sick, esp if you are having trouble breathing, call 911.

Exactly that's why this testing is so overblown, if people got sick they went to the hospital and got treated for influenza just like you would with the flu. I suspect more have had it and more have gotten better on their own without ill effects and those aren't reflected in the numbers. Right now the last number I saw was 77% had mild symptoms.

Based on the trend, you will get a shot and like it.

DENMARK PASSES LAW ENABLING FORCED CORONAVIRUS VACCINATIONS
New measures “most extreme since the Second World War.”
"The emergency law gives authorities sweeping powers to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic and will remain in force until March 2021.

Citizens who refuse to be tested for the coronavirus will face fines and potential prison time, and will be prevented from entering shops, grocery stores, public institutions and hospitals while also being restricted from using public transport.

“As well as enforcing quarantine measures, the law also allows the authorities to force people to be vaccinated, even though there is currently no vaccination for the virus,” reports the Local."

Could you ever have imagined that the world superpower collapsed, not to a antagonistic country, not to some civil takeover but we're cowering before our feet of a freaking virus. A mostly non-lethal virus. Even if more lethal than the flu, it's still not as lethal as say car accidents(ironically those too will go down in our moment of societal herding.)

This is breaking news actually, this means that democracies around the world are going to curtail human rights and liberties to deal with the pandemic of the Coronavirus. The only good grace of this disgraceful law is that it ends in 2021.

If they only cared about this as much about heart disease or cancer, which combined kills over 1.2 million per year. This partisan hack BS is getting old. On January 21st, the first individual arrived in America from Wuhan. On Jan 31st Trump stopped incoming from China and the same hacks started screaming racism, go look that thread up and see who's crying the most on this board. It's dangerous but hey whatever to get dementia joe elected.

He is handling it better. The story seems to go that our resources are finite and that we are bound to overload them and that wouldn't be any different with a different President. the infestation seems to be areas where we have the most international contact, imagine that.

Our local big box groc stores are putting limits on how much an individual can purchase but when I went through yesterday and today it appears to be too late. What a pity this thing caught us at a terrible time when half the government is focused on destroying the other half instead of looking to help.

If they gave everyone a test right now there would be a lot of positives called "community spread" ie they had no contact with confirmed Corona victims. I'd bet anyhow and that's because of the atleast month long lag time between China's 1st case and when they told the World Health Organization.

11 million people fly to China monthly, so during that month lag time in December where'd those 11 million people go?

This virus has likely been in America since December and it hasn't blown up yet even when we didn't know Corona was a thing and weren't taking preventative measures.

I think you are wrong. I think the response has been too little too late. Time will tell.

I could've made mention of that before everyone demanded more tests and then they found out for themselves: "Oh...that's why". The POTUS is a hell of a lot smarter then people gave him credit for. He was ahead of the curve, then he tried to tell them not to panic, they then demanded to panic and here we are.

This actually shows the weakness of the Presidency, as even with good intentions Trump could not stop the herd from herding itself and taking those who disagree with it.

It wouldn't have been overblown two weeks ago and it may not be now.

"We have only barely started testing. We are a weeks behind where we need to be to take effective preventative action. It may be too late to stop the wildfire now."

It was too late once China decided to sit on the information for atleast a month..... That's on China

agree, I think some of the people I know had this in December around Christmas, all that traveling, from state to state, I think it's been around a bit longer here then they think, but no way to know

That is a highly misleading question. How many of those 11 million were infected and contagious? At that time, likely very few if any. There are a lot of people in China.

The mortality rate for the vulnerable is too high for that to be true, and not be noticed. There might have been some cases but it would have exploded before now were it common.

And I understand being mad at some of Trumps actions because not all were good but really if we're looking to play the blame game in this, China itself outta be number 1 on the list imo

If they could come up with a test that showed if a person had antibodies maybe but yeah.....

I mean I feel like the Chinese lag time between their 1st case and when the WHO was notified is a big part of this conversation that's being left out when people are discussing it imo

the testing is to find hotspots, places that need to take more care, can only plan efficiently if you have accurate data

We don't know that. We do know we are weeks behind where we should be. And trump has trivialized this to the point that even now while this is blowing up and governors are scrambling to identify temporary hospitals, half of the people posting here are still in denial.

That suggests something like 40 million people who didn't take this seriously and were being careless, and who potentially spread the virus.

See for example St. Patrick's day celebrations still going on in largely red States.
