yes of course, it is just politics as usual with Trump. Appealing to his base by attacking the eastern liberal establishment. Has nothing to do with dealing with the virus but then Trump as the quintessential narcissist sees everything in relation to himself. And that is all about re-election not about solving the problem or reducing the death count.

Nothing more fun than watching a socialist food fight.
Coronavirus: Cuomo Threatens Suit Over RI Travel Restrictions

    Samantha Mercado

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo criticized Rhode Island's order mandating anyone coming into the state from New York to self-quarantine for 14 days to slow the spread of the coronavirus. Cuomo fired off about the order on CNN on Saturday night, calling it "absurdity" and questioning the legality of the order.

Do you see a quintessential narcissist in this food fight? Mind you, NY authored their own problems by shuttering hospitals, now they want to spread them around.

Correct, and Trump, in a stroke of genius, offered to send some of our doctors there (to find out what it was b4 it got here). Failing that, Trump banned travel to and from China on January 31. Globalists then flew Chinese into Vancouver so they could travel south and infect Washington State. Trump read Trudeau the riot act to stop the flow.

Trump beat you by years, calling for the decoupling from China during his campaign ,,, and your #GreenDeath hadn't even gotten here.

Cuomo is not very impressive under pressure. He whines and blames others, he calls for action then attacks when someone takes action. I have no ideal what he wants at this point, I'm not sure he does.

Thank God Tejas has a stronger leader than that.

And Rhode Island, do what you gotta do to take care of your state.

Trump shouldn’t be at the podium he’s a mix of misinformation, whining, and self congratulation. The swallowers next to him aren’t much better though Dr. Fauci is fairly adept at massaging the situation.

Trump is simply Is too damaged to handle the crisis but we already knew that. Something needs to be done but I haven’t a clue other than the media cutting in on the pressers after he’s through rambling. Deem it to be political advertising or just aire it and replace the reporters with various experts to grill him.

Criticism doesn’t equate to hate though I understand the rationalization. It would be very difficult to support such immature traits and incompetence without deflecting the responsibility onto others.

With his approval at 60% and disapproval at 38% (per Gallup), I understand why the Dems want Trump shut down.

Yes, the polls that I have seen show a (rather large) plurality--even a majority--of Americans approving of the president's handling of this matter. (I decline to call it a "crisis," as I am much more worried about catching the seasonal flu than about catching the coronavirus. And if I simply had to have one of the two, I would much prefer the latter.)

I still wonder, however: Is there any reason to think that is "out of bounds" to suppose that President Trump's advisors have suggested his getting out in front here, and doing an update at 5:00 PM (CDT) every weekday?

Also, as someone else has originally suggested: Is it not possible that the president may be using these frequent briefings as a substitute for his ubiquitous "rallies," which have been canceled for the foreseeable future?

    Thank you for your response.

I should probably note, however, that if you imagine that I am a "left[y]," it is only because you do not know me at all. I voted for Donald Trump in 2016; and I will almost certainly do so again in 2020. And Ronald Reagan--followed by Dwight Eisenhower--was my favorite president, during my lifetime.

Since I do not much care for the center-left tilt of CNN--and the even further leftward tilt of MSNBC--I really do not care much to see their "news." (Anyway, it would all be over by the time that I watch it; I tape the news on my DVR, and watch it an hour or two later.)

I agree with all of the above (except, perhaps, the part about his days being "numbered"); and it speaks very well for him.

But why should that nullify the proposition that President Trump would prefer to be remembered kindly by history?

And why should it nullify the proposition that he would prefer to win a second term as president?

(An addendum: My apologies, please, for using the term "CST" when I really meant "CDT" in an earlier post.)

I do not dispute the fact that President Trump "loves America and...Americans." In fact, that is undeniably true, in my opinion.

But I still cannot understand why it is that he cannot give this daily update at a different time--or through a different medium.

Well his being at the podium does prove he can still read. Intelligently answering questions not even close.

Trump really flew off the handle tonight.

Went off the chain and looked like a Completely Clueless IDIOT.

A lot of great sound-bites (proving that Trump is a Complete Moron).

Trump getting totally Beech-Slapped off of that "Easter Idea".

    What an IMBECILE.

It is. Trump offered help to China back in December to help combat this. They refused. They lied. The WHO repeated the lie

Sadly for all of us, he has certain powers as POTUS that affect our lives.

But he is nonstop lying and aggrandizing himself. He is not doing his job. Lying about the situation is NOT "updating us". Its him trying to DELUDE US so he and his buddies can make more stock profits!

He is not coordinating resources. He is not asking people to avoid making people more sick by avoiding spreading virus, like not saying there isn't anyone be sick except a "couple of dozen people"!

He is not getting essential services rushing into production!

He is making a bad thing worse. Each and every day.

Your extreme leftwing sources are leaving you pitifully misinformed. Log off, turn off the TV, and either go to cdc.gov or try to catch one of the Trump/Pence/Fauci live briefings. You'll feel better and be better informed.

And they made it that way by repeating the same crap "orange man bad" over and over and over again, normal people are tired of hearing that and tune them totally out.

Florida is doing the same with roadblocks for New Yuker's.

Florida border checkpoint on I-95 will screen for New York City drivers

The I-95 checkpoint is an extension of screenings already underway at big Florida airports.
