I already said, multiple times, that asians have seen a marked increase in racist attacks because of the stigma associated with this virus.

Asia feels differently? There are more than a billion people in Asia, so how are you going to pretend that you know how "asia" feels?

Why does Asia take offense to "Chinese" being a race then? As cited by the world census on this thread?

The Asian population HATES that "Chinese" is considered a race to some bigots.

As have Trump supporters due to objectively false narratives.

That doesn’t mean its not appropriate to criticize.

It is still appropriate to nickname viruses. That’s not an invitation for attacking people, and not an excuse. But no matter how many anecdotes you show that doesn’t mean it is all the sudden not appropriate to nickname viruses.

Yes, we all noticed that. I appreciate your honesty. Because Asians take offense to "Chinese" being labeled a "race" for "Racism". As Asia is made up of a ton or different nationalities. The bigots who don't understand are the reason they are upset.

What value do you gain from calling the virus a Chinese virus instead of covid-19 or the coronavirus?

As for your continued attempt to anogize the naming of the virus to trump supporters being labeled a racist, the fact is this: Belief in some racist beliefs are predictive of your political support for Donald trump. That does not make all trump supporters racist, just that racists support Donald Trump.

Ok. Tell me something then, does the survey you used indicate how Asia feels about the use of the phrase Chinese virus to describe covid-19?

That is true. "Why don't they play cricket in China? Because they have eaten all the bats." How many similar things have you seen since Wuhan?

Nope. Do you have a survey that indicates how ALL of asia feels about that phrase? Not just "China"? I welcome honest responses, and not your pathetic attempts to cry "racism" with no facts of races being discriminated against. My guess is, you have no such study.

    By the way- side question.

How is it NOT the "Chinese Virus". It was literally STARTED in China, and they TRIED TO COVER IT UP.

What kind of bigot would deny these facts?

There are racists who support democrats as well, they just typically hate white people. The overwhelming majority of people who support Trump are not racist. And I’m not sure if you just called me racist there or not, but that would be nonsense. Lastly, there is no belief that anyone has by supporting Trump that is inherently racist or anything close to it. Yet that is the nonsense narrative spouted by the left, that at the very least “many” are racist, and they use this to justify attacking Trump supporters regularly. I doubt you, or any democrat really, care about that though.

And what I get out of it is multiple things. First and foremost, there is a practical reason to nicknaming viruses. People remember it and what it did far more easily when its nicknamed. Plus, fighting the fake outrage of the left claiming everything is racist is necessary. Especially when they are so hypocritical about it.

Hell, I didn't even know that they had Asian census studies before 5 minutes ago. That's why I asked you.

India and Russia got surveyed in that study?

The 2nd point has literally no value to anyone.

The first point, near as I can tell, is no different from the nickname covid-19 or the coronavirus.

The second point is valid and true, regardless if you chose to recognize it.

And the difference is the place of origin. Having the place of origin absolutely helps in recognition.

It is not the Chinese virus because the virus has an actual designation of covid-19.

The WHO and epidemiologists set naming standards a long time ago that NOTES it is inappropriate to call a virus solely after its geographical place of origin because such a name implies fault against that country and creates a stigma which is likely to result in increased racial attacks against individuals perceived to have some connection.

So you're denying that the virus originated in China and that they attempted to hide it? Think carefully before you respond.

    I await your massive deflection.

You did not actually need me to say the word no because I said I didnt know that such a survey existed, but I will say it now just to make you feel better.

    No.

My wife doesn't even leave the house now. We went to the store a few days ago wearing masks and gloves before most people were, and I swear, people were literally running away from us in the aisles. It was almost comical until you understand that to many people the presence of an Asian woman caused the concern.

And I blame the national leadership for stoking these kinds of fears. A perfect example is Trump calling this "China Virus", which some on this board applaud.

No, I am not denying that it started in China. I am denying that the virus must or even should be named after its geographical place of origin.

And yes, China hid the extent and severity of the virus both because they did not know and because it served them politically. The same is also true of Donald Trump.

What’s happening to your wife is not the presidents fault. That’s nonsense.

...in what way does saying Chinese virus help you at ALL compared against covid-19?
