Because we have no way of knowing what the effective dose against this virus is.

The dose given in the study is not much different to the dose given to Lupus patients or malaria patients

If your are on a respirator then it's too late to use the drug even if it did work. The drug is supposed to stop virus replication. If you're on a ventilator you've reach ARDS

HCQ has been approved for use as a medication in the USA for SIXTY FIVE YEARS!
I’m pretty sure dosages, side effects and cautions are well documented.

    Malaria 1200mg on day 1.
Lupus 800mg per day for several weeks or months

The study: 900mg for group 1, 1200mg for group 2 on day 1

    So not much different.

If they gave it to 50000, then yes, it worked for thousands. They would/might have gotten better without it. But, now, they THINK it was down to the miracle drug. NAture of the beast.

In order to answer that question I would need some information from you. Has this drug ever been given to someone with Covid-19 who was on a ventilator? If so, what was the outcome?

I haven’t seen any trials in which the drug was given to someone on a respirator. So your question is silly. There is no evidence at all - not even a shred of anecdotal evidence - that it would help someone on a ventilator.

But I’ll answer your question anyway, and your own answer points in the right direction. I would take the advice of my doctor as to whether or not to take any treatment. I would not base my decision in any way on what president Bonespurs said.

Part A. I assume when people come off a respirator they are still suffering the complications of the Chinese virus so I don't know if it is appropriate to try the drug at than time or not.
Part B. It looks like you agree with your president who never told anybody to take any drug.

He’s done a great job ... 1,000% better than Biden could have done with only half of brain cells gone.

Yes it has, but have you read the possible side effects and warnings? I have.

I don't know what you're talking about. Trump has talked about hydroxychloroquine many, many times.

    https://www.statnews.com/2020/03/20/trump-coronavirus-drug-just-a-feeling/

WASHINGTON — President Trump on Friday admitted that his enthusiasm for an antimalarial drug unproven as a coronavirus treatment was based largely on gut instinct, after an open disagreement with the nation’s top infectious disease expert at a White House press briefing.

When reporters asked Tony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, whether the drug hydroxychloroquine was effective at preventing coronavirus, he said simply: “The answer is no.”

Know what? If I want to call Trump out for his stupidity and lack of leadership, it's my right to do so and even you can't stop me.

I haven’t. I would trust my physician to explain it to me in his office if it was a possible treatment for my ailment.. Trump isn’t writing the prescription.

Besides that, it's a combination of hydroxychloroquine given with the Zpak antibiotic that has shown promise in treating corona.

Chloroquine is not often used in the USA because it has deleterious bad effects on the retina.

Hydroxychloroquine is also hard on the retina at high doses, but not as pronounced as chloroquine.

In NYC once you go on a ventilator you have an 80% chance of dying while on the ventilator.

They may be getting tired of ad Homs from someone who thought historical ARDS is the same as what we are seeing in C19 patients. :)

Or from someone who misrepresented Evidence Based Practice and then made the excuse they were dumbing it down for laymen.

Or from someone who claimed there were multiple other C19 treatments more promising than chloroquine. With no supporting evidence.

    Carry on.
