If you are going to require them then, yes, hand them out. Go door to door with camera and docs in hand to make sure everyone qualified to vote has a card.

If you're going to prohibit voting w/o the ID then you must make it available WITHOUT any obstructions.

I guess I think I'm pretty much like most people. When my wife and I got married and bought a house, neither one of us ever gave a thought to going back to our former voting districts to cast a fraudulent vote. Any way Republicans are very good at purging the rolls of any suspicious names like Leroy Johnson.

Lots of folks are on Social Security without the use of a state issued photo ID. Where's that photo on YOUR SS card, hmm bucko and I know you guys don't think history is real but lots of folks have been registered and voting for 50 years or more BEFORE Republicans decided that this was a good way to keep those nasty brown people from voting. Your crusade is not the beginning of history, it is just the latest effort to keep Black and Brown people out of the voting booth.

THAT's why you're so afraid of vote by mail. It takes away your ability to do that thing you do so well. Trump said it in an accidental exposure of the truth. Paraphrasing, "if we do vote by mail Republicans will never win another election."

Trump does it so why not me?

And the ID they use to get the SS card can get them a state photo ID. The SS card is one of the ID's you can use. You're just making excuses for what is a reasonable and pragmatic means of insuring voter integrity. Why would it keep brown people from voting and no white people or red people or yellow people? You REALLY like to insult brown and black people don't you. Geeezz. You were just given reason, Nevada. Just one example. And yes Trump has a case, Democrats will engage in vote harvesting and other such tactics as we lose total control over the integrity or our elections.

Even the UN vote monitors were amazed some states did not have voter identification.

U.N. Poll Watchers Baffled U.S. Doesn't Require I.D. to Vote

"It's an incredible system," said Nuri K. Elabbar, who traveled to the United States along with election officials from more than 60 countries to observe today's presidential elections as part of a program run by the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES). Your humble Cable guy visited polling places with some of the international officials this morning. Most of them agreed that in their countries, such an open voting system simply would not work.

The most often noted difference between American elections among the visitors was that in most U.S. states, voters need no identification. Voters can also vote by mail, sometimes online, and there's often no way to know if one person has voted several times under different names, unlike in some Arab countries, where voters ink their fingers when casting their ballots.

It's not you and your wife we are worried about it's about those who would do that or if someone who knew you no longer lived there did so. Federal law requires voter roles be purged, my registration is subject to verification just like anyone else including black voters where I live. How does that "disfanchise" blacks more than whites? And if you are mistakenly purged you can still cast a provisional ballot. Blacks aren't capable of casting provisional ballots it there is a problem with their registration?

There is no requirement the government do that it doesn't have to coddle you and come bow to your feet. Take care your you required documents and registrations yourself like everyone else. It's no more obstructed that going and getting a drivers license, a hunting license, a conceal and carry permit, register a deed, get a car tag, file a lawsuit, serve on a jury and on and on and on.

    Voting is a right
    getting a tag is not.

Can you see the difference. Is any of this getting through to you? No?

Then stay on topic bucko. We're discussing voting by mail. You know, just like Trump.

How does ordinary voting (in person) 'suppress' votes. Anyone determined to vote, will make the effort to vote .. obviously. What in heck are you suggesting here? That voting methods ought be adapted for every personal convenience and preference?

Here's one: I belong to a group of pajamologists, who don't believe in wearing day clothes while engaged in official business. Therefore we must be allowed to vote at night, in our jammies. Failure to accommodate us is voter suppression.

    1) citizens come in all colours. where do you live, if you think they're all white?

    2) the degree of difficulty of obtaining ID is EXACTLY the same for all citizens.

    Are you for real?

You want to turn the voting system into some kind of personal service, because a handful of 96 year olds don't have any family decent enough to spot them a ride and $20? And you only want it then, because they have a skin tone you approve of.

    Disgusting.

    YOU know better.

Yeah citizens come in all colors. the ones you want to keep from voting are pretty much 1 or 2 of those colors AND
A 35 mile drive to stand in line at a DL office that's only open 2 days a week is most certainly NOT the same as going to the one 3 blocks away, open M-F and takes appointments.

If you can't speak to the truth then stay on topic. We're dicussing voting by mail. You know just like Li'l Hands Himself.

    Are YOU for real?

You want to require voter ID to keep that person from voting because they're not quite White enough to suit you?

Garbage race baiting. You should give black people more credit. Guess you think they are incompetent. There is a word for that, it's often overused but it fits to a tee, in this case.

    1) I don't want to keep any CITIZEN from voting. I want all CITIZENS to make the effort to do so. I don't live in a place where all citizens are white (not even my own home), so your suggestion is an absurdity to me. 35 mile drive? So ****ing what. My black family would drive 350 if that's what was required to vote. What's the matter with you?

    2) The truth is that any attempt to 'make it easier for brown people' is incredibly offensive. That it hasn't occurred to you to consider how this sh!t sounds from the other side, is horrifying. I have brown relatives who can't speak the language and don't drive, yet still make the effort. Their family and friends pitch in and make sure everything is done, because their family and friends are helpful, responsible people. Yeah .. shocking isn't it - to know that brown people can do things white people do. You may need a stiff drink after hearing that.

"Why are Republicans so opposed to vote by mail?"

because they do not realize more republicans vote by mail than democrats, even Trump voted by mail

seriously, they just wanted to put democrats at risk of dying during the primaries was why they were against it, they are all for it in the elections where they also have to get out and vote - this is the way Republicans in power think, pretty sick group

You should consider writing novels, a vivid imagination is an asset to a fiction author.

Bearing a fire arm is a right, is the government required to come to my home and hold my hand while I fill out the form? You have a right to sue someone, does the court have to come to your house? You have a right to own property and the government requires you to file a deed does the city clerk have to come to your house? You can take care of all those things at your county courthouse or annex closer to your home. AND get your voter ID card. It is not an obstruction.

And the only right you have to vote is that if the government says you get to vote on something you cannot be told you can't vote because you are black or white or a man or a woman or a jew or atheist.

And can you point me to this survey or study which revealed that Republicans do not know this is true or is this just something else you made up out of thin air?
