So you understand that all those flights came in from China and Europe carrying virus with no attempt to quarantine, monitor, anything. That's on TRUMP. Cuomo has no control of air traffic

And the vast majority of the virus that hit the NY Metro area CAME from Europe

She...and I...were "exposed" because of this moron's callous and careless refusal to properly wear HIS mask.

If I see another jack off like that in Lowe's I'll not be returning. I'll find what I need online

It would be your prerogative if you owned that store, and mine to walk away and get it elsewhere.

I would wear that n100 only if there were dangerous chemicals about. Maybe if I worked in a paint shop, which I don't.

    Hello Crank,

You'd have to have access to a working Crystal Ball in order
to actually know that "masks are here to stay." That would
mean that you could see into the future and having that ability
would enable you to become amazingly wealthy. How so?

    Well . . .

You could go to Las Vegas to the casinos and having the
ability to see into the future, you would know what numbers
the balls would land on in the Roulette Tables -- and you'd
place your bets accordingly --- you could make millions
    of $ dollars $ in a very short time . . .

    . . .but wait a minute . . I just thought of a better way.
The Stock Market. You'd know what stocks were going
to do in the future and you would buy those stocks
that you knew were going to become worth 300 times
their present value and you could buy them dirt cheap
and wait until they hit their peak worth, and then sell
    them.

Actually you could do both Las Vegas AND Wall Street
and soon surpass Bill Gates in wealth.

/fun post . . . just kidding around with you up there.

    Thought For Today:
Be sure to wear your mask when you go to any
store, restaurant or any place where there
    are people gathered together.

I am curious as to whether there will be cases of URI that develop in those who wear masks everywhere. I know one individual who did develop URI from wearing a mask for 8 hour shifts. At least that's what his doctor told him.

It's funny how many wear a mask while driving alone in their car. Or wear a mask at the beach.

So you know where these drivers have been and are going to? It would be foolish to take it off before you got home where you would be able to remove it properly and wash your hands afterwards. Same thing with the beach. It's quite obvious really

The first point is that @Eleuthera should wear a mask to protect other people and that anyone who is unwilling to do that should be shown the door.
The second point is a question in reply to the comment about mask-wearing days being over.

My personal view is that anyone who would refuse to wear a mask if an n100 respirator with HEPA filters is available where SARS-CoV-2 is known to be present is an idiot.

Yes, and I think it's only common decency to protect other people from COVID-19 you might have.
Why wouldn't you wear an n100 respirator with HEPA filters if you were walking into an environment where SARS-CoV-2 is known to be present?

CDC does advise health care workers working with SARS patients to wear a special mask called an N-95 respirator. But even these masks offer limited protection from coronaviruses. The name of the mask says it all. The “95” means the mask, if properly fitted—and that “fit factor” presents a big if—can filter out particles down to 0.3 microns 95 percent of the time. (A human hair is roughly 100 microns in diameter.) Human coronaviruses measure between 0.1 and 0.2 microns, which is one to two times below the cutoff.
    ...
To efficiently protect yourself from coronaviruses, you would need to wear a full-faced mask with a high-efficiency particle air filter. But such HEPA filter masks cause what Grinshpun calls “quite a discomfort” in short order.

You do realize that your comment demonstrates why you should wear a mask?

    This guy...

... should get his useless butt off the golf course and invoke the Defense Production Act to make sure this level of protection is available to everyone forced to interact with the public, then to vulnerable populations (seniors, immune compromised), and finally to the general public.

That is the best way to stay safe.
The other way is to stay 6ft or more away from others in public.

    Most masks offer little protection.

Like yeah, but, they are only available online from CHINA. I have my CHINA masks, all the stores in my area do not even have a dust mask for sanding...

And yet, no masks, the commie Republican code enforcement demanded I paint my house an approved commie color or else drag me into proximity of their commie unwashed freaks.

    {Breathe, Breathe, the commies will lose in the general...Breathe}

People wear these COVID-19 effective respirators in situations where they are doing physical work.

Even a home made mask is better than no mask; it's all about reducing risk. Remember that the virus is effectively a tiny fat globule easily absorbed by many materials if touched by the virus.

An analogy for a virus going through a 0.3 micron gap: Imagine you are blind folded and 200 yards from a 2 yard wide gap in a sticky wall. Do you think that you will be able to walk through that gap without touching any of the wall in a 500mph circulating wind?

His commie people are too busy telling me what commie approved color my house should be, for their 50 State governments to build a State Owned Enterprise to fill the gap.

Yeah, but I have to pop the lid of a motorcycle helmet at stop lights or die. Using those rubber sealed things for several hours, with tight seal, very painful. Only a loose hood such PAPR would be comfortable. The problem is there are none at a reasonable price, maybe Ford, and even those are not within reach of the average person, under $200.

    Bad analogy.
There are hundreds of 2 yard wide gaps. And hundreds of .3 micron particles flying through the air.

Because the Dumbass-in-Chief has not used the Defense Production Act to make sure enough respirators are being produced.
    "Commie Republican?" Huh?

The only place I knew like that was the City of Rolling Hills in California where the uber-rich residents were required to paint their houses white. That was years ago and I don't know if the requirement continues.

There is a video on YouTube I saw, explaining how some masks work. The layers of the homemade ones are the key, some masks like a simple layer of scarf, it flies right through, but layers of say cotton and maybe silk...if you don't have a Hover vacuum bag. It's like Achilles shield, the layers could be insignificant alone, but together they stop penetration.
