What 'normally'? Denial won't help you.

And 'basic' hygiene won't cut it.

In my assisted living, they have closed the dining room to all but 10 residents who are required to wear masks when they come down, have their hands sanitized, and when they leave, each of whom sits at a table alone , with each table 7 feet apart. The rest eat in their rooms. All dishes are disposable so that they never come back into the kitchen. The serving staff wear masks, and gloves which they change between tables. The 'lucky few' in the dining room have been exhibiting symptoms of depression or anxiety and have seen poor meal intake since February that are attributed to increased isolation.

    Could not agree more

On the bright side are people like yourself and so many more on this board who take time and effort to think things through, research what they do not know and consult with experts when they themselves do not understand.

I am not sure why or even how a narcissistic TWONK (Twit With Opinion but No Knowledge) like Trump was elected or why people continue to think he deserved even a microsecond of consideration as a leader but looking from the outside I suspect it has to do with the culture surrounding evangelicism

Some sage advice for those reading this thread: It is monumentally more important that you discuss your personal response to COVID-19 with a trusted healthcare provider instead of listening to the idiotic ramblings, and outright lies, of someone babbling incoherently on the internet.

I agree. I don't know how much we would go there were it not for the level of leadership in that direction, though.

We have a president that works to undermine scinece at every turn. He fires those who tell the truth while searching for yes men who stand by while the president spews unimaginable and dangerous garbage as if it were medical science. And, that has not even been slightly out of character over his full administration to date.

JFK challenged us to look toward engineering. And, we went there with gusto. It created a huge boom in science and engineering in American education and awareness.

We don't actually demand to be led toward stupid. And, stupid doesn't advance America or even just feel better.

That is because you lack empathy, the ability to understand and share the feelings of another.

You might avoid COVID-19 if you do.

So, no. You should preclude any advice from me (that I haven't actually given) in regards to this virus.

I suspect that you would be better served listening to the ignorant charlatans suggesting that masks are useless, viruses magically transfer themselves from place to place without a vector, and there is nothing you can do to stop it.

Yeah, that's the advice I would urge you to take.

Make the management personally responsible for making sure workers have good PPE and they'll get smarter. :)

Nursing home personnel should have n100 respirators with HEPA filters.

Probably has more to do with 10 years of feting First World Problems. An obscenity borne of excess and safety, and indulged all over the West.

We might call COVID a bonfire for those vanities, given the West's response.

Want something that really works? Try an n100 respirator with HEPA filters. The masks people wear in public protect others from you, not you from others.

To answer the OP, no I did not wear a mask early on as there was a shortage. I believed the health care workers needed them more than me.
I felt that was being a “patriot”.

Once handy folks began making home made masks and the supply was abundant, I got one and wear one when necessary.

I like wearing it when I patronize stores, I no longer have to be bothered by someone’s bad breath! Win-Win in my book.

I have no control over the rules in the community care settings that I regularly visit.

Why should you go into a store without something covering your mouth and nose? If I was running a business today, I ask you to wear a mask and offer you one for when you're in my shop. If you refused, I would ask you to leave.
Would you wear this n100 respirator with HEPA filters?

Shocking, isn't it. I've seen people do all the right thing while out, then completely fail at home by bringing stuff like mail and groceries straight into the house without decontaminating - wherein the family rips into those food packets and eats.

Phones are another fail point, big time. Ditto credit cards etc. We went with the medical protocols when we were still going out to shop etc. Phone in ziplock bag and not used for any reason but a dire emergency. Drivers' license and credit card in another ziplock.

There are quite a few health professionals posting here, as it happens. And I don't mean dental hygienists.

Couldn't agree more, that your current leader is a disaster. Failed to even begin to protect his nation.

    I don't get your point.

You're free to wear a full moon suit if you want to.

However, the issue remains that we insure medical staff have full coverage, that employees are being protected, and that all those who go out do so with masks.
