Doesn't work like that. The guy was pleading for help. And the cops refused to give aid, and went on with slowly suffocating him. That's when they and the state become liable. That's also how you know were dealing with a racist thug with a badge. Not to worry. Them racist thugs are men of their time and place. Lots of white people in the US are like that.

A time where racism is institutionalized. Takes a racist thug to not help out a man pleading for aid, but instead goes on with slowly suffocating him with a hand in his pocket while his victim got his hand tied behind his back. Maybe Chauvin is just a jealous husband who flipped out because of his wife's involvement with Floyd. Why doesn't someone ask them if that is why Chauvin murdered Floyd in such a personal way? If it is then everyone can chill and go watch some baseball games.

 

Hence I think my idea of a 'medical officer'(separate from the general police department) would be a great idea. It'd create new jobs and prevent what happened from happening in the future.

Seems like with all the modern technology we have today, there has to be a way to arrest someone and get them into a care, without having to put them in a carotid restraint hold to intentionally make them lose consciousness.

I looked it up this afternoon. Apparent a carotid hold is trained to police just about everywhere (though it is supposed to be used with an arm, not a knee). If done properly, the suspect goes unconscious in seconds. It's surprising that more people with heart and other conditions don't die from this widely-approved police technique. There really are a very small number of deaths from doing this.

Solution: Find a better technique.

 

We need to all get along with each other and settle our differences at this difficult time.

Wow, I didn't know that. Makes it a solid murder 2nd degree by Chauvin in that case. He intended to hurt George and then at some point just made the decision to follow through and kill him.

I hope they release the body cam footage from the 4 officers soon. The only officer who should escape prosecution is Lane, the most junior officer and the one who tried to sound the alarm at several points.

 

Meanwhile, in real life:

Of 500K black vs white/white vs black violent felonies (non homicide), 85% are black perp/white victim. 500 whites are killed by blacks; 250 blacks are killed by whites. Of 1000 killed by cops, 6% are white cop/unarmed black. Cops kill as many unarmed whites as unarmed blacks.

 

From my worldview perspective, which comes from living in a diverse community, I don't particularly care about who-kills-who split out by skin colors...or anything else categorized by color. All the race politics is divisive.

What I'm getting out of this is, "Why is one of these things excess force and the other is acceptable?"

We need to figure how police can arrest people without doing either of these things to anybody of any color. We just sent a rocket into space. Are we too dumb to figure this out, together?

 

Training. For the most part, Police Departments work as they are supposed to. They need more training and there should be more police in areas that have a lot of crime.

 

This is not true. All emergency personal are trained on the basics, which absolutely includes signs of heart attack, stroke, etc. What a ridiculous thing to say!

 

Why don't we train them in different techniques and methods that don't intentionally make citizens unconscious and don't risk having them die when being busted on accusations for non-violent crimes like forgery?
