The point is, your position is that the higher rates of crime in the US is because of certain aspects of culture in the US is correct.
Just not the culture you credited.

I have a CCW, which aiui is displayed on the cops computer when they run my plates and/or liscence. In my experience, cops have treated me more respectfully since I got it.

But I also always keep both hands visible on the steering wheel until they ask for me to do otherwise, so maybe thats why.

Either way, I've never had the impression they considered me much of a threat even though they know I likely have a firearm...

Same here. In fact, on at least -two occasions, I had to force them to acknowledge the fact I told them I had my gun on me.

Cops are acting this way for three reasons

    1. They think everyone is armed....and they have a reason to think that with more than one gun per every person in America

    2. It is drummed into them that black people and especially young black men...are dangerous and criminal. That's a culture thing...a WHITE culture thing

    3. They are taught to act like the military. It's been going in that direction since 911

That is correct. However, cops who are using excessive force are not born that way. They somehow develop the tendency while on the job. I am not saying I have the answer to the problem, what I am saying is that there is a problem if, per capita, 31-times more people are killed by police officers in the US compared to Germany. And the problem is not that police officers in the US are bad people. There is an underlying societal problem that is not addressed. My feeling is that the problem is fear of the police officers for their own life. If there was no fear, there would be no reason for excessive force.

Except that 70% of violent crime does not involve of gun, of course.
Except for the fact that more than half of violent crime is committed by blacks, of course.

    Unsupportable nonsense.
The US military is not trained to, or expected to, act FIRST in accordance with the civil rights held by those they encounter.

LEO has no place acting like the military.

    They are police not military.

This is correct - there IS an underlying societal problem that is not addressed
Just not the "societal problem" you claimed in the OP.

    Exactly.
NEVER will you hear them addressing the REAL problem, which is horrible Democrat policies that destroy families and resulted in millions of broken families and thus broken kids.
NEVER will you hear them admit that coddling criminals as liberal judges do creates the problem we have today.
It's why Democrat areas of the country account for 99% of the murder and violence.

    Consider this.....
Before liberal policies proliferated, SCHOOL CHILDREN carried loaded guns to SCHOOL every day and yet there were no mass shootings.

    What has changed?
Democrat policies and the proliferation of Progressive/Socialist ME! ME! ME! attitudes.

The problem was never 'Gun Culture".....
the problem will always be insane, irrational harmful Democrat Policy Culture

bad upbringing, narcissism, fragile ego's, ect... we need way to weed these out of law enforcement and when they are discovered, removed from law enforcement

    Nope, not at all, nada.

We need much better training, much better pay, much better retirement, and a greater commitment to public safety.

Two factors why we have the problem we have today in the US. The war on drugs and intentionally keeping the most violence prone demographics poor and desperate. Has nothing to do with guns. If it was guns every law enforcement officer and citizen in my part of the country would be dead. :)

Big city cops already make above 50k a year sometimes and the retirement is already bankruoting most cities. There is only so much money to go around.

Then get the feds to subsidize. If we can pay phone call center supervisors a 100K, we can pay cops a 100K.

Americans have guns because they need guns. The country is still basically rural. There are bears 30 miles from New York City.

The criminals who have guns, have them illegally. So even if guns were taken away, they would still have them. The people who wouldn't have them would be their victims - so there would be a lot more robberies and victims.

I dost believe that to be free
we shouldn't give our guns to thee.

And thus protect our house and home
from criminals, who like to roam,

    like animals so angrily,
    and darest us so blatantly,
that we should never go astray,
for only they may have a say.

And thus they push us on our knees
to worship not as we so please.
But their own gods of lust and greed

and all the things we shouldn't heed - Jeannette

That depends where in the US. Obviously, I would much prefer to be a police officer in Mayberry than in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago.

But almost all American cops ACT like they are policing Chicago.

    Know why?

They believe everyone they encounter is armed

A lot of it is training.

If they are taught that anyone in their custody is their responsibility...and that they will be held accountable should something happen to that person...they WILL act differently

I'm not sure where you get your information that all police, everywhere in the country, act like they are in Chicago. Is there a study on that?
