A noose we will investigate and make into a national story.

This, not so much. Hell we won't even report on this. Nothing to see here.....

That's exactly what happened. I've cited multiple primary sources. The Confederacy, in the form of those primary sources, agrees with me on this. You are the one preaching historical revisionism.

Their primary purpose was preserving slavery. Several Declarations of Causes say so, the Cornerstone Speech says so (yes, even the supposed retraction letter Stephens wrote after the war, which still states slavery was the primary issue), the secession commissioners said so, and the Crittenden Compromise indicates the same.

Not liking history will not make it go away.

But, for the record, no, your icon doesn't offend me. 1) Because that wasn't actually the Confederate flag, as I'm sure you know and 2) because most people who fly it are historical revisionists. They've re-written what the Confederacy actually stood for and fly it out of an innocent, though misguided, sense of southern pride.

You don't get it. The American patriots who rebelled against Britiash could not be traitors.

By every definition, the people who took up arms against the crown were traitors - many were hung as such, and all fully expected to be hung as such, had they lost.

You cannot escape the fact you DO buy into the idea that that the flag of traitors is something to be proud of.

Not when those traitors split from our country and form a new one in an effort to preserve slavery and were willing to take up arms against us.

Bottom line: Confederate flag lovers just want to disassociate the history of slavery that preceded the 4 years of the Confederacy existence....and since the Confederacy NEVER alluded to ending slavery, any defense of the Confederate flag NOT being associated with slavery is all the more schizoid.

It's been two days since the discovery of the "noose". There's absolutely no way that NASCAR and the FBI don't know what happened. They're also surely aware of the online conversations pointing to the garage pull rope and idiocy as the source of the controversy. If they had anything to say that would disprove that, surely they would have offered it by now. Their silence at this point is damning. He'll be Bubba Smollett forever.

You are not going to twist and spin your way out of the fact that the Confederates were bad and were traitors because they fought against their country for one and one reason only and it was an evil reason. To preserve slavery.

You state unequivocally that you do not buy that the flag of traitors is something to be proud of, and then you go on about how you -are- proud of the flag of traitors who aren't REALLY traitors and even if they were its OK because you believe in their cause.

That is, by any and every measure, twisting and spinning..

Could someone explain why you guys are still arguing about the confederacy? Wasn't that like 150 years ago? Why are people more upset about it now then when there were still survivors of the civil war and slavery?

FBI concludes that the noose was actually an old toe rope that had been in Pit 4 for several years before that Pit was assigned to Wallace. Much ado about nothing.

Same reason I sometimes debate Holocaust denialists around here. History matters.

That must be in the conspiracy section, I never see those arguments. But I'm wondering why people seem to be more upset about it now. It seems bizarre to me.

Pulling down monuments and statuary from our history is in no way going to change it, so a big waste of time and some nice looking statues. The stuff we put on display as art today pales in comparison.

I think it’s terrible that the assumption was that some racist redneck put a noose in the guys garage. This is the kind of crazy paranoia that the left has created.

I guess a lot of people once again jumped to conclusions and made phony accusations of racism. Wallace and the officials owe apologies to all the Nascar people who were there and track workers for insinuating there were racist amongst them without checking it out first, they just assumed.

Turns out it was a bunch of racist just looking for racism. The FBI reports the rope was in that garage for a long time. He just happened to be assigned to that garage. Case closed.

I was at my sons yesterday and we both were scratching our heads about it, wondering why we had seen no pictures and the entire spectacle at the track yesterday with Bubba marching in front of all the drivers and all the crews an speaking to the crowd and breaking down and Richard Petty going and comforting him and it was all about a fake accusation.

He and those behind the accusation owe a lot of people an apology.

LOL, apology won't be forthcoming. The best we can do is to ignore these charlatans in the future.

I was a gross misjudgment that they didn't bother to check out and just assumed and then instead of quietly letting the investigation determine what was actually the case put on the spectacle of the race card.

Hey Bubba, apologize and take the political pandering about a group that is out engaged in anarchy in our country and remove their name from your care. Politics has no place in NASCAR especially phony racially charged ones.

I have to be honest, the ‘woke’ demonstrations from sportsman are starting to wear a little thin now. It heavily implies that most people are uneducated, thick racists who need to be told to respect black people. A notion which I personally find woefully inaccurate. I think it’s part of a superiority complex mixed with out of touch PR who after all this time are still failing to capture the public mood.

I think it's crying shamed he accused persons at the track either crew members or track workers of harboring white supremacist. He should come forth and state he is GLAD that it WAS NOT a noose and he is sorry if his reacting as he did was post haste and without proper foresight and without waiting to get the facts, he assumed white people there were racist and they must change.

I went to Talladega for YEARS, entertained LOTS of customers there. I NEVER saw anything racial and while few the black fans that were there were just part of the crowd no one was thinking color. I think there was one reported case about something outside the track where the huge crowd is tailgating and partying but even that proved to be fake.

I played bars and festivals for years, now just one or two a year, but in the band there was a rule, do NOT talk religion or politics on stage, if someone from the audience tries to, start a loud song!!!

To me, Woke is clearly against the Federal Republic and has as its stated mission to upend our Republic. It's our job not to be angered by their words and their propaganda, because that is their aim.
