Nah, I’ll settle for Andrews. He has a better track record than the other Premiers.

Nonsense, honestly it is completely braindead to tell anyone a crowd of thousands of people, where some have tested positive, did not result in infections of an airborne virus... This Chief health officer is an idiot or part of the WHO (the communist puppet organisation).

How is this possible and why are we even bothering to social distance if you can crowd together and nothing happens... can you see how ILLOGICAL that is? Why are we even in lockdown in this case?

ok so let me condense the car analogy for the government worker who have no understanding of small business.

You think you have a car, but if with all the effort of "winding" or drumming up business, you are not able to drive it forward, all you have is a big chunk of metal.

ps. I think Small Business should take the Andrews government to court for locking them down when you can protest and no transmissions occur. (which btw is probably why they are trying to sweep this under the carpet)

    Ups and downs.
No one is a shining star with COVID-19 at present.

I reckon the big doofus has done alright, for a Lib (Firetime vacays notwithstanding). Didn't stoop to partisan point scoring when Dan dropped the ball, kept us in good pandemic shape by ignoring his Right Wing tendencies in favour of a 'commie' approach. Etc.

Heck, I'm not even disappointed with Glady-pie at this point. She's doing a pretty good job (Ruby Princess debacle notwithstanding), if numbers are any indicator. Seems to have convinced her citizens that behaviour is key. Must be that loving but icey maiden-aunt vibe!

He’s doing his best. The fire was a big wake up for him.
    Gladys is pretty sensible.
I first thought she had been handed the poisoned chalice but she hasn’t fumbled it. She’s going well in a state which can be ...challenging.

She's growing on us. Might even dabble at thinking about voting for her (which is as close as I'd get to voting for her).

Meantime, NSW has handed the 'most challenging state' trophy to Vic. And the other states have handed their runner-up trophies to Vic, also.

Australia is going super-sized authoritarian now. I always thought they were a fairly liberal and free country, until Covid.

    New restrictions announced...

We’ve averaged 500 new cases per day over the last week in my state,Victoria.
I will put up with any constraints if it helps to get rid of the Virus.

We are, but all bets are off in an emergency. Response to COVID is much bigger than politics, it's plain old civic responsibility. Has happened in many different nations, and different political models. We were always prepared to do it and mean it, irregardless of who is in power.

Hey, if you're happy, I'm happy. If I lived there, I would not be happy right now. Just sayin'. ;)

Australia has done a beautiful job of stopping the spread of this disease, but I think their response is short sighted. They are killing their economy and unless they can wait it out until there is a successful vaccine or miracle cure they will be starting from scratch on top of their economy being in shambles. They even have their state borders sealed. From what I understand, Australians can't travel between states.

On the bright side, china has been stopped in their tracks from slowly usurping power and influence in Australia. Australia should capitalize on this to make this benefit permanent while they can.

You would not be happy that COVID is being managed properly? Interesting. Most Australians (at least 80%, according to stats) much prefer to smash it, and get back to business sooner as a result.

Most of the country is pretty much free of the disease now, and able to carry on as usual. The citizens of the 'safe' states get to live as they always have - freedoms, and no masks. I'll wager you'd prefer that for America, yes?

The economy would be far more 'killed' if we just let this disease run rampant. FAR more. Short sharp action is much cheaper than long and drawn out half measures.

As for state borders being sealed, of course! There's no way you can eradicate this disease if people are free to move around from city to city and state to state, as they please. You might be aware that the nations which have had the most success in eradicating COVID, allowed the least movement. In New Zealand, it was something like 2km from home. In Jordan it was as far as you could go on foot (no motorised movement at all). Vietnam, Thailand, and Taiwan were similar. Currently in Australia (just in the state with the outbreak), it's 5km.

It might interest you to know that the vast majority of citizens want those borders to stay tightly closed!

Y'all sort of had it smashed initially...with sever lockdowns. As soon as you reopened and let foreign college students back in (or something similar), it wasn't smashed. You started a new spike. So now you've got areas back in really extremely severe lock down. Unless Australia keeps any people from outside of Australia out of the country until the virus is smashed everywhere, I don't see how these cycles of lockdowns prevent anything in the long-term.

My southern state has had a horrible resurgence of the disease.
It’s like the news during the Vietnam war- tv viewers won’t tolerate all the body bags being taken out of nursing homes and ICU beds clogged up with Covid sufferers.

I have no dog in your hunt and I make no claim to be able to tell another country what to do. That decision is for you. I just worry that small businesses are paying the ultimate price and I worry that your faith in a pending vaccine could be in vain. At what point do you get your freedom back?

I have no problem locking down nursing homes. I have friends who haven't seen their parents in almost 5 months. My parents have self isolated at their home. I went months without seeing them and only got to hug my parents after I received negative covid results while I was in the hospital. We should be protecting our vulnerable, but Americans also value freedom. We also see news stories of people checking their elderly out of nursing homes to avoid pending outbreak in nursing homes.

Dunno about crank, but I’m not sure that we’ll get an effective vaccine.

I understand the value of freedom, but there is a bigger picture. With freedom comes responsibilities.
