Trump says he won't participate in next debate after commission announces it will be virtual

The Commission on Election debates has decided that since Trump is STILL infected with Covid-19 and therefore still contagious, having likely given the disease to many White House staff, its best that the 2nd debate be done virtually.

Trump says no. He says its a waste of time. Most importantly he is afraid he will get cut off when he rants and interrupts and insults the Moderator and his opponent.

I though Trump never gives up and never quits?

He cant expect people to appear in person with him while he is still spreading his virus germs. Either it be done virtually or they are in seperate rooms are completely seperated by plexiglass, all things Trump would likely reject anyways.

He knows that the virus and the meds have screwed his mental state and this will be clear as day in a debate so he is desperate to not debate.

Let's see if Trump will offer a viable and safe alternative to a virtual debate.

if he doesnt even suggest one or two safe alternatives, we know he is simply chickening out

 

He's saying it's too soon to call....moreover....if need be could be rescheduled.

I don't per se have issues myself with a virtual debate...but, until I see more details on how they plan to do it, I can't say I'd support it.

For one, we know Biden has a history of having telepromters to help him at virtual interviews...how can we ensure that won't happen here?

 

Let Trump suggest some safe alternatives to the virtual debate.

maybe they be in seperate rooms.

maybe large plexiglass seperations.

if Trump offers no alternatives, then he is really just a chicken and knows his altered mental state has put him at a massive disadvantage.

 

after the last debate Biden went up in the polls, that is the real reason Trump doesn't want another debate

 

I thought Trump's comment "...and they can cut you off at any time..." was interesting. It would appear that his strategy for debating revolves around him interrupting Biden. I guess he figures it will throw Joe off. So the idea that a moderator might cut his mic feed doesn't fit into that narrative.

Biden is way ahead in the polls. He can bring Trump further down by allowing him to engage in another disastrous (for Trump) debate. But, what for?

Trump's only hope of even coming close would be to hope something miraculous happens in a debate. He's the one interested in finding ways to find this "miracle" to happen. Biden couldn't care less. He has no need to debate a sick SOB who, despite having doctors around him 24/7, and the possibility to test anybody who came within a twenty feet from him any time he wanted, wasn't even smart enough to protect himself from getting infected.

And Pence just creamed Harris in the only debate those two will have.

The only thing I'm curious about is where Trump will decide to hold his next rally.

What's the problem? President Trump didn't participate in the previous debate, neither did Joe Biden, for the simple reason that it couldn't under any reasonable metric be described as a debate.
It was something that occupied screens, and provided material for the chattering classes, but it was not about listening to a point of view then counteracting it with an alternative point of view backed up by some kind of credible evidence. Ideally with everybody listening to each other without interruption.
The standard of debate here in the UK is lamentable, but in America it seems non existent.
I think the Trump announcement today is dead catism, not because he is worried about the 'debate' as such, but he wants to control the rather surreal agenda.

 

Ha! I am curious as to what he will say in his next rally. I suspect that he will outright fry cowering Biden and the corrupt Debate Commission.

 

The irony of this is incredibly funny, especially after all the Trumpers claimed for months that Biden would skip out on the debates, yet it's our bitch of a POTUS who is hiding and skipping out.

I hope super spreader Trump throws nonstop rallies, especially this close to election day.

 

Simple solution, since everyone knows this is a ploy to have Sleepy Joe sitting in front of his Monitor with all the answers and he's too chicken to get up on stage with Trump, swap in VP Mike Pence to debate Biden. He did an excellent job last night.
