    It's 16 weeks in Minneapolis for a highschool kid to become a cop.
    The UK demands 2 years. And most, if not all cops in the Britain don't wear a firearm.
    Obviously the cops in the UK get superior training and are much better cops.

    The man had a gun on him (it turned out to be a BB gun but that's irrelevant). He ignored lawful orders of the police and had what appeared to be a weapon in his hand. This is a completely justified shooting.

    Point is, that they also knew it was a man who wasn't all there in his head. He needed mental care from a person who got that education. Currently they aren't employed and so the cops show up for an execution. So you need to refund to police a bit, and employ other people to solve them problems.

    I dunno.
    Seems like the same right wingers not supporting abortions, because every live is precious
    have no problem with the idea that people get executed instead of getting help and live on.

    Stray bullets have been known to penetrate house walls and windows killing people inside. If the victim had a BB gun without a red cap on the end then I do not blame the officers for shooting the guy.

    Do police officers not count? The fact remains that by that point in time, he had become a threat to be resolved. Maybe it could have been resolved in a better way but that was still the circumstances the officers faced on the day. The opportunities to treat whatever underlying issues he had were already missed.

    Even if whatever alternative was invested in worked, there would be a delay in the benefits being realised, during which you'd still need the police availability. There could also be other thing the police should or could be doing with those resources, redirecting them internally rather than just taking them away. There remains zero reason to directly tie additional funding for things like preventative mental health care, social care or early drug treatment with reduced funding for police departments. You can make arguments for both, but they should be separate.

    Some people are only looking for anther reason to riot, smash the windows of local businesses, and steal their sh**. Store owners should be allowed deadly force to defend their livelihoods from these animals.

    I don't think BB have the red cap at the end of the barrel. I know my son's pellet guns don't. Without that red cap the cops have to assume the gun is lethal
