Will this lead to more protests at NFL games? Doubtless it will lead to more calls to 'defund the police' over mental health issues. Who's right and wrong here:

Mental health issues or not, you are a threat if you're acting crazy and carrying a gun, and there is usually no way to know it's not a "real" gun until it is too late. Once again, although sad, the victim brought this on himself, based on the story.

    From the article:

"“Please drop the gun, dude!” one officer yelled. “Please, please do not make me shoot you!”

As Udofia continued to approach the car, the officer yelled, “Dude, I got to shoot him, bro!”

The officers fire on Udofia, who drops to the ground. He is then ordered to move away from the weapon; other officers respond. Udofia is fired on again and bitten by a police dog after pointing what turned out to be a BB gun at them."

If I'm ever shot to death I hope it's only once.

So if you are committing crimes and threatening other people including law enforcement and must be incapacitated to protect other people from the imminent danger you present you hope they use a shotgun?

Im not saying this is suicide by cop, but it is a textbook example of suicide by cop.

Not really sure a about "protests at NFL games".

The guy was cut in pre-season (he never played a Reg. season NFL Game) and 99.9% of NFL Fans had never even heard of him.

Yeah looks like he got shot on purpose.

That's how some people feel it's best to go but it's risky because the cops can put you down without killing you sometimes.

Not to mention that it puts other people in danger.

RIP. Very sad. Racism is real. 34,000 gun deaths per year in USA are real.

We do not know what happened -- very sad in any case. Sadly in USA, very little help is available to people who need help.

They embrace that talentless pizzle Colin Kaepernick; why not this person of color that we’ve only heard about when he died?

When people are acting crazy, than those people need help and not being...
shot till they can't stand, to than get the dogs unleashed on them, to than get executed.

That's why the police needs to be "defunded" by relocating funds to other people who can provide that help. The cops can't do that. They are a bunch of people who barely made highschool, to have a crash course of a couple of weeks of training. Compared to other western countries: total joke.

Hugs for everyone! Hugs are the best.

I especially like the last remark. High school dropouts with a couple week crash course. That's fascinating stuff, how did you learn so much about all this? And if course thank you for keeping us informed, we would be lost without these little nuggets.

Whats even worse is the mental damage done to cops that are forced to shoot people. The vast VAST majority never shoot anyone, much less kill someone. The anguish an officer has to deal with is another side effect of suicide by cop and animals that can’t follow simple instructions when being arrested.

No, he would have needed help months, maybe years ago. When it gets to the point of someone threatening others with a gun it's too late, the primary focus needs to be on protecting others.

Why would you need to defund the police to provide proper mental health (and drug treatment) services? Even with the very best healthcare humanly possible, you'd still need (and want) the police available too, for cases where even that fails and all the situations where it is entirely irrelevant.

The police were wrong to kill him. Sadly guns are used in 34,000 murders and suicides in USA each year.

Sadly racism and extremely violent/punitive police action is still an issue.

he should have dropped the gun, justified shoot, common sense

the reality is, having a gun while acting crazy can get you killed, it's not always wise to own a gun and carry it in public

pff... you can see the streets are totally empty. There was no threats to "others".
No biggy... victim is black, right?

If in this case udofia received the care he needed, than he wouldn't be walking in the middle of the streets with a bb gun, so cops wouldn't be needed to respond to a situation that would otherwise not happen. And with him, countless other situation,.. so you don't need that much police.
