Again....I can only suggest that you feel free to provide information that discredits the politico link. I see nothing in the OP that suggests animosity toward military or anyone else... but there may possibly be some in your opinions
Holy ****....Thanks for posting that!!! "In 2008, according to FBI gang investigator Jennifer Simon, 1 to 2% of the U.S. military belonged to gangs, which is 50 to 100 times the rate in the general population." ...and that was like 12 years ago.
It is much worst than that. This is the liberals thinking about needing the army on their side when they come for our rights. Purging of the military to get compliance is a critical and necessary step into authoritarianism. This is some real scary stuff.
Perhaps, you don't understand that the burden of proof is on Politico, not me. All I'm suggesting is that you use your critical thinking skills instead of taking that publication's claims at face value. PS. I've been around the men and women who have served in our military since the day I was born. How about you?
I don't see how "proof" is a burden on anyone...unless they make it a burden for themselves. I've so far seen no rules on this forum which places the burden of proof on anyone. I've only served 6yrs active duty total in two separate branches... but in that short time observed prejudice toward people of color. I was not however, aware of gang activity.
How long ago was slavery? You guys have strange ways of saying what's current and what's out of date.
I actually approve of the War Powers Act. An interesting piece of trivia is that Congress has never once obeyed the WPA in the years since it was passed. As I understand it, WPA demands that Congress take an active role in supervising POTUS as C-in-C.
Doesn't they idea of "slavery" and the concept of "white supremacy" somehow coincide in this country? If the idea of "white supremacy" is still around...then the root cause of slavery has not successfully been dealt with.
Define white supremacy. Does the definition include special programs and benefits for whites? Do whites get safe spaces and their own dorms and graduations? Is there a white celebration month? Do only white lives matter? Do presidential nominees say they're going to pick their running mate because he's white? Please explain and provide examples of white supremacy.
I was referring to actual "white supremacist" groups...they are still active today. The idea that "nig***s are considered "less than" was taught to me as a child by my family... It was likewise taught to my childhood friends as was evident in their casual conversation. People don't have to be card carrying members of a "White Supremacist" group to see themselves as superior to Black folks. I have no problem at all with government assistance to Black folks...and by the sound of your rhetoric... you do not believe such a thing as "White Privilege" exists.
Which could result in a sizable reduction in our armed forces. Its not like you can plug and play citizens into the military.
"The United States military has been all-volunteer since 1973. But an Act of Congress could still reinstate the draft in case of a national emergency. "https://www.usa.gov/selective-service
Yeah, with times as they are....I wouldn't want to be the Congressperson voting in favor, the backlash would be real.
I guess radical lefties could've completely taken over Portland and Seattle, formed their own government and attacked the US military too.
But wouldn't that depend on the situation? It may still be possible for this divided country to pull together against a foreign foe.
they were merely forced to stand up to killer cops, but screw that cos a few replaceable structures mean more than lives.
COVID was about as common enemy as you can get. Natural disasters to. I don't think in the current political climate it is possible to rally the country behind a common goal or enemy.
