I don't know really, all of this sucks. I still have hope we can pull together. We did after 9/11 and locally at least after Hurricane Katrina. Have we changed that much since then? I just don't know. We don't seem to rally anymore, instead we try to place blame. Social media and the MSM has given a huge microphone to alt left and right. One thing I am convinced of is that their can't be any peace with extremists. To heal the divide we have to defeat anarchy and division from the fringes first.

They're just wanting to deploy. If you're in the military, and you have no combat experience, you're rank is irrelevant.
I know of numerous instances of active duty members with gang affiliations and cartel ties. One dude I was in bootcamp with was some Russian crime family foot soldier. Never met a racist, though. There was no such thing as race when I was in 10 years ago. Granted, 10 years ago, we were actually in combat, with more important things to worry about. But I have no doubt things have changed now. Idle hands are the devils playground.

In the 1960's draft army the VAST majority of the training cadre and NCO's were either black or Puerto Rican, many of them lifers. It seems that once the military stopped drafting they no longer signed up in big numbers

So we do what the French and Romans did-recruit foreigners. There’s lots of latino people in the military because of the promise of citizenship. Serve and they’re more likely to get citizenship.
