Political organizations or advocacy groups will use the giveaways or gifts, known as “line warming,” to inappropriately influence voters in the crucial final moments before they cast their ballots. Such efforts violate the protections Georgia law has placed on campaigning near a polling location or voting line and the prohibitions on providing rewards to voters that were enacted to stop pay-for-vote schemes.

Offering food, drinks, or other items of value to voters waiting in line or those who have already voted is ALREADY forbidden under Georgia law, nothing changed that. https://law.justia.com/codes/georgia/2010/title-21/chapter-2/article-15/21-2-570/

Dems did illegally hand out water, pizza, oranges, and chips in the last election, to buy votes.

Is this supposed to be a defense of the Georgia law?

Actually you are correct, campaign materials can not be handed out in Georgia within 150 feet of the polling place door or within 25 feet of someone waiting in line. thanks for the polite correction.

I'm surprised they aren't too embarrassed to bring up the fact that they can't design a voting system that doesn't require anyone to have to queue long enough for their needing food and water to even be an issue. I'm not aware of that being a routine problem in any developed nation and most of those don't even have early voting or widespread mail-in voting.

Generally poll workers are voluntary. The claim is that they do not get enough volunteers.
BLM has become a political statement and as such they are not allowed in polling locations.

The Georgia voters who have to wait in line for hours are, or course, voting in Democrat-run districts that are the usual pits of dysfunction and incompetence that all Democrat-run districts always are, and it's easier to cry and moan about "voter suppression" and "Jim Crow" than it is to get off your ass and properly organize your voting stations to run quickly and efficiently.

But getting off one's ass and fixing the problem is never the Democrat way.

Easier to sit on one's ass and cry about racism.

Republicans are just ****ing MEAN and not in a good way like John Wayne wanted to be remembered as either, no, they're more the puppy kicker mean as that is taken by some as a sign they're TOUGH; but to most people it just makes them seem like the sycophants that follow the school bully and giggle as he beats up first graders.

I agree with wgabrie. I really hope this gets written into their new laws and then we get to see it on the Evening News as reps of the Republican Party supervise mass arrests of people giving water to seniors forced to wait in long lines to vote

How can ANYONE vote Republican at this point?

That image is heartbreaking. I'm waiting for the police apologists to come onboard and blame her for causing a scene. I don't know how anybody in this country can think racism doesn't exist. It's preposterous.

I know several that support the party no matter what they do. I strongly believe the "sticking points" are guns and abortions. Outside that, they simply don't care how many rights they trample. It makes no sense whatsoever.

So their two main platforms are saying that women should have no control over their own bodies and enabling massacres of innocent citizens by murdering madmen.

    Grand Old Party indeed.

The law, SB 202, states that "[n]o person shall solicit votes in any manner or by any means or method, nor shall any person distribute or display any campaign material, nor shall any person give, offer to give, or participate in the giving of any money or gifts, including, but not limited to, food and drink, to an elector ... on any day in which ballots are being cast."

So basically then much ado about nothing. Typically leftist catewauling over nothing in particular. By the way why does it say elector rather than voter.

Can you expound on why you think this is "nothing in particular"?

**** you grampa, or pregnant woman, or anyone really. If you don't like standing in the hot sun without a drink for three hours you're just not the kind of people we want selecting our politicians anymore. Now go home and be sure to check your mail for the cancellation of your health insurance we intend to pass.

Electors are the actual people who vote for president as opposed to voters who elect the electors...

This situation is about voters not having enough polling places so the lines are considerably long (which is why volunteers were handing out water and food). Why does that not matter? Or, would it matter if this was happening in red states?
