It looks like the stock market has responded very well to a Biden presidency (even compared to Trump!) despite the doom and gloom from the right wing. The stock market is rolling and the economy is getting back on its feet thanks to Biden's stimulus plan. His proposed tax policies and climate agenda are already priced into the stock market, so I wouldn't expect any significant downturn following the announcement of any new legislation.

I do find it odd how stocks are doing so well, but the right wing would have you believe the sky is falling.

There are a lot of things stock markets like. They like tax cuts - which is why Wall st & the GOP are such good friends. Indeed, that seems to be about the only policy the GOP still believes in. They also like weak unions, something most GOPers are keen on. That is why the performative attacks on 'woke capitalism' are so funny. The GOP clearly thinks their voters are pretty dumb.

Another thing markets like is predictability. While some people do well from unpredictability, most investors like a stable environment. Trade wars and Presidents who throw daily tantrums don't suit them. Neither do appallingly incompetent Presidents who mismanage a pandemic. Biden is competent and steady. He is pumping a ton of money into the economy, which will benefit many businesses indirectly. He has raised taxes, but they were only lowered a couple of years ago, and will still be lower than they were when Trump came to power.

The funny thing here is that the GOP is making it so much easier for Biden. By throwing tantrums every time businesses make a business decision that they don't like, the GOP make Biden seem less threatening.

I am not really sure the market is all that big on tax cuts.

In the first year of Trump's tax cuts the DJI went down 5.63%, the S&P down 6.24%, the NASDAQ down 3.88 and Small Caps down 12.18%.

Now, I suppose one could argue that that damage done by the tariffs was off set by the tax cuts and that without the cuts the markets would have been down even more that year

Once again their doom and gloom predictions are for naught.

It was a certainty the stock market would rebound from the pandemic. WTF did Biden do to help it? A stimulus putting us further in critical debt masking "growth" is basically a band aid and a massively UNNECESSRY one? And the economy can certainly get back on its feet after it was PURPOSELY DESTRYOED by Democrats. Go compare economies in blue and red states. At first glance, you would see how much better some Blue states have bounced back, but when you logically look at how Democrats in blue states purposely crushed their economies, many on purpose to make Trump look bad, of course the bounce back would "appear" "better".

Go check out how well restaurants are dealing with things, since its better for people to sit home on their asses than go work. Plenty of articles about it. Hard to motivate people to work when you're PAYING them NOT to. Biden is doing such a bang up job=)

So you mean to tell me that it's good for the economy to open back up after it was shut down for so long?

    I'm shocked.

The blatant dishonesty about the economy is keeping in line with the blatant dishonesty about the economy during 2020 so this is par for the course.

Because conservatives aren't so stupid as to believe the lie that this is anything other than the country opening back up.

What do you mean it was a certainty the economy would bound back? Trump and the republicans guaranteed Biden's policy would swallow the stock market up and it seems to be doing fine and better than it has been. If it returned to normal, you might have a point, but it's doing better than normal.

The president is never responsible for growth, only the level of hindrance. Growth is the result of work and taking risks.

So essentially Biden isn't the hindrance republicans were making him out to be.

Trump promised death and destruction if we voted for Biden. Pretty sure he said we would lose our country too.

True. This thread was mostly tongue and cheek to shed light on the hypocrisy of Trump supporters who gave him credit for the stock market but refuse to do the same for Biden.

Stock market goes up under Trump and you couldn't stop hearing about it from Trump, his minions and the MSM.

Stocks go up under Biden but you don't see democrats pounding their chests.

Biden was elected to repair government and create policy that will benefit America and our citizens.

trump was elected to hurt people his base didn’t like and slowly turned into a cult leader

Trump was elected because people got tired of policies that hurt america and it's citizens.

I have no clue why Biden was elected....there's isn't a legitimate reason.

I honestly can't name a single politician who I'd say shows genuine concern for our government's spending. Many talk about it though, but I don't see actions beyond that.

Never short an excuse. Just like with the stock market under Obama, when they said that it could only go up, and it did so DESPITE Obama, and not BECAUSE of him.

The funny thing, however, the last two major downturns occurred under Republican presidents. One has to wonder why?

Myself, I always DCA into the stock market, no matter whether a Dem or Republican is in the WH. This has served me well. I feel that a correction is overdue, but I won't let that affect my investing behavior.

The left didn't care about the debt under Trump. The left only cared about the fake concern for the debt the right wing had when Obama was president and now Biden. I hardly saw democrats complaining Trump was spending too much. Sure they had issues with what he was spending on, but didn't care too much about the national debt like republicans do now.

Why would they when we just keep voting them back into office. By doing so we are giving them the green light to keep doing it

And it's only one party that campaigns every election about reducing government spending. Which party is that?

Truth isn't an excuse....it's just the truth.

To argue that the economy is improving because of biden as opposed to reopening is a laughable position to take.

But go on.....politics before truth....the lefty way.

    Complete nonsense.

How many times did I have to listen to obama complain about Bush's spending?

And....even if that were true, kinda sad how the left doesn't even care....they should care at least a little shouldn't they?

He had no plan to fix anything — healthcare was one of the things he campaigned on (repeal and replace) and we were still waiting on it... well now, because he never released one. Packing departments with loyalists with zero experience in their field, calling over half the nation traitors.

Biden was elected to erase trumpism and enact policy that will benefit all Americans, not just ones that are loyal to a partisan con — he is doing a bang up job.
