I'm hoping that I can, at least, stop getting laughed at.

Jesus Christ I swear it's like people are freaking psychic for the last four nights in a row no matter what time I mop the store, some one has to show up within one minute, it doesn't matter if it's one am or three am, bam there they come like clockwork...I ll be standing out front, I'll tell them careful watch your step I just mopped emphasis on the word just and of course they'll walk right in anyways if you're not working and you're out between 1:00 and 3:00 a.m. around here there's absolutely nothing to be doing, but yet just as soon as I'm done with the floor literally within one minute every single time... I can have not seen a customer for the last 20 or 40 minutes it doesn't matter someone will show up

I use that phenomena when business gets slow. It's uncanny.

Mostly between midnight and 3:30 am, it's drug addict types, homeless and those who are not. for a small town, the homeless addicts have really increased in the last several years. They are not from here, I can't imagine what makes them come here. Outside of our small town, not much but cattle and citrus in any direction, for around 30 miles.
One scumbag stole my phone the other night, I locked the store and walked over to the laundrymatt across the street and confronted him, he denied it. I knew damn well he did it, I said "OK, dont worry about it, it's on camera".....

Before I could walk back and get the door unlocked, some other guy produces my phone and gives a lame excuse for him....I told him to tell him not to bring his ass back around the store. And it was on camera (no surprise to me) Me and the owner and his son, rolled it back and watched.

We set a new, all time record of 95° on Friday.

The fish cooler works. The big number is the aquarium temp. and the room temp. is at bottom left.

This is the week I do a bunch of little things so I can do something big during 4th of july but then end up having nothing needing done on 4th of July break so I sleep most of the day :couch:

Dug potatoes and planted fall harvest green beans in their place, everything mowed, chopped and dropped my side of creek from woods, pruned out undesirable shrubs (ie effing privet) growing up in desirable things, and pruned the boxwoods out front. Started moving misc. boxes of misc. junk I should just toss but won't into the attic. I probably should go ahead and start refinishing the kitchen cabinets but I think I will put that off til fall. I need to find something else to do do do.

Went out and worked on my goat fencing and messed my back up... at least for a couple of days. I still have to put a ridge cap on the girls bedroom and I am sure that will hurt a little but it will be done. And as far as I am concerned no more roofing .... forever. That will help my back heal. I don't really do a lot these days but a cardiologist told me I get more exercise than I think. But this Bama weather just makes me sleepy. Might start doing some stuff after dark.

Holy cow! It's hot. Tomorrow is supposed to be the last day of this. I'm sure that I'm setting a personal record for number of showers in a four day period. Heck, I'm not even bothering to use soap, anymore. I'm already the cleanest that I've ever been.

At least you don't have to crawl up on a roof. Or spread hot tar on the road. Or work in a foundry.

I used to work for a living. Paid my dues and earned my right to whine. Lots of people have had it worse, but working atop an airplane, in the Saudi Arabian sun is pretty brutal.

My little heeler found some excitement today...she found a mocassin on the patio. She grabbed him and tossed him in the yard, she was going after him again and my husband stopped her. I have seen her after them before but she never grabbed one. This one must have been too close to home.

I am not trying to imply you didn't pay your dues. But isn't it nice not to have to do it anymore?

Complaining about the heat is a game that I'm playing with myself. Sure, I'd much rather have it be cooler, but I can take it.

This past Friday, we set the record for the all-time high temperature ever recorded. When the normal high temp. is 64°, 95° is pretty hot.

Supposedly, 30% of our local residents have air-conditioning in their homes. It's got to be rough on the old folks.

    No offense taken.

You certain it was a moccasin? Banded (and other) water snakes, can look very similar to one.
Non venomous can be very heavy bodied and very much mimic, the classic triangular head shape.

What you are used to is part of it. When I was a wee one we lived in a rental one time for a couple years in which the only AC was a window unit in the kitchen. My bedroom was in the attic. I was pretty accustomed to hot days, but we had a triple digit week in which it was still in the 90's outside at midnight. Inside, it was worse. My god I thought I was going to die during that one.

Fishies are comfy, despite the weather in the house.

During the drought of 1988 I moved from Alabama to Indiana and it was hot as hail. I get a job in a foundry that year. It didn't get below 90 day or night for months. In October it was over 100 every day it seemed. I suffered that year.

Mine read 90 when I awoke at 3:40 pm. I can cool it to 82 with my window AC, the key is a peck of fans.

Good grief! We are having record breaking heat here in western Oregon. 112 degrees today at my house. I’ve lived here for 41 years, and I never felt heat like this here.
