One could be sitting it out in worse places I'm trying to sit it out cuz I don't really like driving this van in the rain these Dodge vans have a pesky tendency to have the damn belt pop off sometimes in the rain. Too damn far to walk home about 15 miles IMG_20210623_165736.jpg

I've been caught in many rain storms through the years, and the pavilions at camp grounds became the common refuge.

Looks like the main water is close enough the fish may swim right up to you.

That is one good spot or thing about this spot you can still sit here and fish in the rain these guys just drove up and launched a boat, four guys. Lightning ls popping, they must really want to go fishing. I think I would reschedule that trip if I were them but there they go best of luck to them

A rather large alligator probably around 8 ft judging by the size of his head there are plenty of them out here as well as bull sharks and yeah I think it's a good idea to get in a tiny plastic boat and paddle around oh just don't fall out of the boat.... I wondered if Rudyard was called Ruddy or Rudy by friends.
I Can't see family and Friends using Rudyard outside a
    Lawyers office or In court.
Maybe his fishing buddies called him Kip.
Even when he never went fishing.

Too cheap for that! It is a bit concerning to realize all that is between you and gators and sharks is a thin, plastic hull, not to mention, sitting only inches above the water. But it's a boat that wont tap my wallet, I shelled out 35$ for decent paddle, that's it.

I love little kayaks but the only dangerous things on our rivers are the swans.
I'd be a bit more worried in your neck of the woods.

Taking the boat out on the river in a bit, just a mile from here. Same river but around 20 miles upstream. The place I was yesterday is more interesting, but more hazerdous. Twas the boat to become disabled here (hey, it IS plastic and kinda old...) I could easily walk the banks home. Out there? You aint walking out, any islands or land you find are 90% thick mangroves, and wading the shallows? Forget it, mostly thick suction mud. Takes forever to get 20 ft. Best bet would be a good samaritan in a boat. Pic of the river, closer to home. Rare for sharks to come up this far but gators are here too. Much more walkable, if need be

An overview of liverpool, this map does not show tons of smaller creeks, you could easily get lost here. The red arrow is the park I was at, yesterday.

Our little proviso for wildlife here is.. don't get lax around the javalina.. they will come right up to you if you feed them, and it is kind of neat, but if they get alarmed, they have those tusks that'll rip your skin open as tho' you were a bag of water. (which , in part, you are!"

They've issued an excessive heat alert for my area. They're predicting temps to approach 100°F. Most people here, including myself, don't have air conditioning.

    I'm worried about my fish.

I'm busy rigging up a cooling system for them. As a backup, I'm making ice.

Fish don't die from the heat. It's just that, if water gets too warm, it doesn't hold enough dissolved oxygen. Then, they asphyxiate.

I didn't know that, can you aerate the water by adding a fountain?

Why not get a window unit? I use one to cool only one room for a couple hours a day. It gets over 90 in my house but with fans, it's ok.

But, if power demand rises above the supply limit...

Sorry, in the UK that just never happens. We have power outs in my village when its windy, but they last 30 minutes.

Remember to make any temp changes very slowly. And good luck!
